Sergio Kindle blurb

I just read an interesting article on Orangebloods.com. It was by Geoff Ketchum and he was basically counting down 25 reasons to be excited for the 2008 football season. I'm not real good at posting links so you'll have to find it yourself if you want to read the whole article. Sorry. It's dated July 11 so it could be an old article that many may have read. What caught my eye was this particular reason:

6. Sergio Kindle appears to be approaching 100% health and if you need an example of what kind of wrinkles Muschamp plans on adding this year, just know that the plan is to have Kindle coming of the edge as a pass rusher quite a bit this season. For the first time in his career, Kindle is going to be turned loose and allowed to attack. Everyone knows Kindle has the talent, so the key is staying healthy, but the kids upside is as high as any in the Big 12. If Muschamp can't turn the beast loose in this kid, no one can.

It's good to hear that he is getting healthy. I can't wait to see him on the field.

I'd be surprised to hear that Kindle is approaching 100%, if he underwent microfracture knee surgery this off-season, as has been widely reported. The recuperation time for that procedure, as I understand it, is generally not less than 9-12 months.

I'm also curious to know if Ketchum's comment (if accurate) about utilizing Kindle as a pass rusher means (a) that he'll be blitzing more from his "Sam" LB spot, or (b) that he'll actually be seeing some time at DE, or (c) both.

I have no answers for any of the above questions, which are very important. But I will say that if Kindle is 90% healthy and realy is let loose, he should make some highlight reel hits. I am so impressed with this kids athleticism, he could seriously put some hurt on this corp of freakishly talented Big 12 QBs.

I wonder what he is basing this on? Anyone else seen or heard anything related to this?

Other websites report that Kindle has been running around (I believe in the 7 on 7 practices) and the knee has been responding well.

This guy is rapidly becoming the Ghost II.

It would be great to see him able to do something besides get fans worked up about not seeing him on the field, injuuries and all. Right now he's just one bad PR incident and a slew of injuries. I hope to God that changes.

Ketchum has a long history of making rosy claims about players in the off-season. I remember one summer when he said Dakarai Ali Pearson was going to tear up the big 12. I wouldn't put too much weight into what Geoff says. JMHO though.

Geoff Ketchum said.....

You always know that it going to be good. How exactly would he know any detail about Sergio's injury? He can't even get a media pass for the games. If he wants to see it, he has to buy a ticket just like everyone else. I know for a fact that nobody in the medial staff is going to talk to an internet reporter.

I don't know why anyone would read (much less pay) for his "opinions" on Longhorn football. He is hated by the staff, and cut out of any of the serious press conferences. If anyone believes that he has any honest insight into what our new DC's plans are for a linebacker who was hurt all last spring, well, I have some property in Arizona for you.

Seriously, that guy is a total wind bag.

the thing about him that drives me nuts are his claims of "inside sources". When breaking news comes from a poster, Geoff and Jason always say they knew about it but couldn't say anything. Most of the time they are full of crap and have no idea what's going on behind the scenes on the 40. I was a paying member of that site for 5 years and had enough.

Have you ever heard a new D coordinator come in and say that he was going to be conservative and not "turn guys loose"? I guarantee if you look at all of our past coordinators they said the same thing. Unless they are running some 34 looks I cannot see him rushing off the edge. If you turn inside guys loose then you get LaVar Arrington, which is some spectacular and a lot of out of position mistakes.

Wow. I didn't realize there was this much animosity towards Ketchum and Orangebloods.com. I had contemplated getting a subscription, but you guys have given me reason to pause. I guess we will all just have to wait until practice begins to see what kind of condition Kindle is in.

I've been a subscriber to Orangebloods for six years. It's a very good site and definitely worth the money.

Ketchum is honest, straighforward, and calls it as he sees it. Try it out for a month. It really is a no lose proposition for 10 bucks.

I was also a subscriber to inside texas. While good, there's no comparison between the two.

So what does OB give you that you can't find on the many free sites with a little digging? I looked at OB a year ago and I couldn't see the value in sending money to a TN address to tell me what's going on in TX. Inside Texas looks a lot like OB.

A friend of mine subscribes to OB and I know more than he does by reading MBTF, HF, BON, BC, and the other free sites you can Google using "college football news." Just asking?

Oh ****. I just hijacked the thread.

Judging early impressions of Coach Bleep, about the last thing any of our defensive players want to do on his watch is look lost or confused. He'd send 'em to the sissy field, if they're lucky.
