Senior Telemarketing Fraud

My grandmother has recently received several calls about "winning" money and prizes, and all she has to do is send a money order to cover shipping/handling/etc. Obviously this is a total scam, and I've printed out about 25 sources from Google concerning this scam to send to her, including the AARP, FBI, and FTC. Is there any other internet sources I can research or is there a phone number I/my mom/my grandmother can call to get additional information concerning this scam? Any way to find out additional information about the company besides the BBB?

We've told her that it's a scam, but she's convinced that this lady is really nice and that she has actually won something. Is there any way to find out information about this company/people and file a lawsuit against them...its apparently a canadian "company." They are asking for less than a thousand dollars, so is it possible to send them the money, and carbon copy attorney's, FBI, or whoever on it and file charges against them if she doesn't actually receive the money/gifts? If it is possible, what are the chances of getting the money back and winning the case and having these ******* sent to jail. And can it be a jail in Mexico or South America?

I'm amazingly pissed off and I want these predators behind bars. She's a wonderful person and my grandfather passed away several years back and he was in charge of all the finances, so she's very naive about this stuff. My mom is torn up about it because my grandmother won't listen to her, although she has said she won't send any money until my mom checks the company out. The company that has called her is called Apple Art I believe and they are based out of British Columbia and apparently started in March. I can't find a website, but I checked the BBB in BC and they aren't registered, obviously.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info. I sent my mom all of the information I gathered and also gave her a few phone numbers she could call including the Do Not Call List.

I guess my mom talked to the guy today and things got pretty heated. Right now its not a lot of money <$1,000, but I don't want them to "reload" and ask her for more money next time. I know this scam is a gift/prize scam, but someone else has already called her about winning the canadian lottery, so she's obviously on the list. I just hope we can show her the light. If anyone else is having problems with this, I have a ton of websites I located discussing these senior citizen scams including the FBI, IRS, FTC, AARP, and others that will hopefully persuade people to avoid these scams.
