Is this something we should be doing now?
"Instability in Egypt, where a newly-elected Islamic government teeters over an angry population, isn't enough to stop the U.S. from sending more than 20 F-16 fighter jets, as part of a $1 billion foreign aid package.
The North African nation already has a fleet of more than 200 of the planes and the latest shipment merely fulfills an order placed two years ago. But given the uncertainty in Cairo, some critics wonder if it is wise to be sending more top gun planes.

I didn't mention BO
I asked if things being as they are now in Egypt should we send them F-16s?
Or wait until things get settled

These are planes we taxpayers paid for

Who could have ever forseen that an 80+ year old dictator would ever lose power and possibly be replaced by an unfriendly regime?

We're also sending two Patriot Missle Batteries to Turkey, another country struggling to fight off increasingly extremist elements.

Clean- the Neocons? Their plan was to start the dominoes with Iraq if you believe Project for a New American Century.

Obama simply picked a side as the dominoes started falling. This play won't end for decades though.

Horn,

I didnt say you mentioned Obama or anyone else. Lower your binoculars, they are pointing off in space.

This isnt shocking or surprising. Like I said, par for the course. And it doesnt matter who is in office. People on this board, and in real life seem to always be missing that.

Remember there is also a corporate welfare piece which helps both our military and our aerospace industry and most likely an ability for the US, in time of war, to track the planes that it builds. There is always a little more than meets the eye.

I've never understood why we feel the need to adhere to treaties and agreements that were negotiated with regimes that no longer exist. For example, I see no reason to adhere to arms limitations treaties we negotiated with the Soviet Union. I'm not saying we should always nullify them, but I think they should definitely be revisited.
