Senator Sessions vs General Demsey/Leon Panetta

The contempt and disregard that the White House has for the constitution is, as Senator Sessions says, breathtaking. I'm really not sure why the constitution is even mentioned in these people's oaths anymore.
 
Help me out. Isn't the UN the organization that legal basis would be addressed with? Why is Panetta talking about a coalition or NATO. Did they not get support from NATO. I really don't follow this stuff as closely as others so I probably am not as up to date as I need to be.
 
I think the point is that such actions should be a nonstarter absent congressional approval. So Panetta babbling about other, international governmental bodies is completely irrelevant to Sessions' point.
 
Technically we should have approval of both unless there is an imminent threat to our homeland, in which case the Commander in Chief has to act. Both Bushes got approval of both before actions in Iraq. Clinton got approval of both before actions in Kosovo. Obama is King and does not care.
