Senator McConnel and Schumer on Face the Nation

First off Mcconnel is a weasel Rhino Republican. Scheifer kept asking him are there going to be tax revenue increases and he kept saying there could be changes in the tax code. Just ******* come out and say NO. It is not a compromiseable subject at this point, the Democrats have already agreed to hold those tax brackets at a certain level for a deal made 7 months ago. Hold them to their word and point it out.

Schumer is the biggest tool and he basically reaffirmed what is wrong with Washington. He talked about the Freshman Congressman and how they don't understand how the system works. That is the problem, Jack Wagon, the system does not work. We need change in Congress, and change of the system not just in ideas. He goes on to mention in my 37 years, hell that is another reason for term limits, let''s get rid of him and change the system. Whenever something gets to be called a system you know you are in trouble.

All in all McConnel is a weasel and Schumer is a bully. He was trying to bully the freshman congressmen.

Of course Scheiffer is a blathering idiot, not unlike me.

I feel much better thank you.

So to sum up, no plan at all would lead to fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget whereas Congress is falling all over itself to try to come up with a plan that is fiscally irresponsible and massively increases the national debt.

The problem is not Washington. It's us.

Like you, I watched the Sunday morning talkies.

Republicans and democrats, whose votes created this problem, talking past each other and blaming each other for it.

Republicans, who created needless "credit card wars," a prescription drug benefit that they voted for without voting to fund, a Department of Homeland Security that was created without funding etc...

Democrats, who voted for so many things that have put us here, refuse to compromise on the primary drivers of the debt ---- the entitlement programs that threaten to engulf us.

Polls show that Americans favor a balanced budget amendment by 74 to 26%. Meanwhile polls show Americans DO NOT favor cuts in:

farm subsidies
medicare cuts
cuts in pensions for government workers
cuts in social security
etc....

So who is to blame? Tea party supporters want the government to keep its hands off of their (##@&# medicare. "Conservatives" who own beach houses want the government to cover them when those houses wash away into the Gulf of Mexico during a hurricane. Meanwhile, liberals are fighting to "preserve life as we know it" (as Nancy Pelosi put it) without saying that our way of life will go away if major entitlement reforms are not made.

We had a balanced budget in 1985. It was voted for by both the House AND the Senate. What happened to that?

Meanwhile Brazil, China, India ---- even Russia ----- are growing apace, making smart, strategic investments in the future.

We're screwed.

The Medicare Part D is NOT the failure Dems want to paint it, first of all seniors who use it do pay a monthly premium and have a deductible. No one ever mentions that. I don't know what it is but anything is contributing . This is above whatever seniors pay mothly for Medicare
Second it has come in under budget every year it has been in existence but one
thirdm the the independent nonpartisan National Bureau of Economic Research did an analysis and found that for every ONE dollar spent In part D Medicare saves over $2.00. It makes sense since if you can control a condition with drugs rather than more expensive hospitalization.

The phrase NBER used was that Part D had a " salutary effect" on Medicare.

It is amazing how some people spout talking points, both sides, without doing any research.

if as Dems save they want everyone to pay their fair share what about all those paying nothing?
