What the hell is up with this commercial?? First of all I don't get it. Secondly its not funny. Its not even amusing. How much did they spend on this commercial and it sucks ***?!? Give me Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates and an IPhone and I'll record a funny *** commercial and get it on the air in two hours.

Microsoft needs to can their ad agency, cause this crap isn't cutting it.

It is the opposite of Hilarious. It sucks ***. Is it supposed to be some sort of parody of "Seinfeld"? The only problem is the writing of the commercial is absolutely terrible. The whole eat your computer bit is so out ot left field you are starring at the screen asking yourself WTF was that???

The commercial was bad to start with, but I agree, the whole eat your computer bit sent it completely down the shitter.

Dear Microsoft,
If you are going to fork over an *** load of money to sign Jerry Seinfeld, save a little to hire a writer too. Or let him come up with his own material.

I saw the commercial for the first time last night, and I have to say it was shockingly bad. There just doesn't seem to be any kind of chemistry between Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, which is probably a big part of the problem. The message of the ad isn't entirely clear, and there was at least one obscure gag: the old photo of Bill Gates on the Shoe Carnival card looks remarkably similar to an old booking photo from when Gates was apparently arrested in Albuquerque back in the 1970s for some kind of traffic violation.

Joe Average just can't relate to this. This is why the Mac vs. PC commercials from Apple are so brilliant. The genius is that Mac comes off looking like the hip, cool, stylish alternative while playing the straight man to PC's buffoonish antics. I laugh every time one of those Apple commercials comes on. (Yes, I know I am easily amused sometimes.)

a friend of mine is an art director with a shelf full of cannes awards to his name. his take was "it was witty as written by a couple of 40+ creative directors. that **** was poop."

I was afraid this thread was going to be about how clever it was.
It was awful.

Hint: Jerry Seinfeld was only funny when surrounded by a good cast in his TV show, especially when Larry David was writing. Jerry traded way down when he got Gates' *** wiggle for Kramer.

I consider this exhibit Z in the case that Larry David was the real comedic genius behind Seinfeld. Jerry's painfully unfunny.

Cue the ad agency guy who says the ad worked because people are talking about it....

I really liked the start....
JS: Is that your toe?
BG: No.
JS: Well... what is it?
BG: Leather.

But it was all downhill from there.

It was going in the right direction in the shoe store. They should have quit while they were ahead, but probably couldn't think of a good punch line to end it.

Then they went outside, and It got really bad. It bothers me as bad as a T-shirt I used to wear, it said, and read this carefully....

READ THE MOOSE

Which makes no sense, right? It wasn't supposed to. It was supposed to give you a headache. On the back of the t shirt was an Excedrin Ad.

Typical Microsoft...........

Hiring Seinfeld to be their pitchman was the right thing to do.

.....................................in 1994.

Hiring celebrities about a decade past their prime is what Microsoft does. After all, Madonna sang in a Windows XP commercial in 2001.

The whole edible computer thing is just stupid but the *** wiggle is pretty funny. The thing as a whole is a headscratcher.

Like about 80% of the commercials on TV, I wonder how these ad agencies make money. Why can't every commercial be done by the same people that do the beer commercials & Godaddy.com.

And I agree the whole edible computer line was painfully pointless.
