SEC ????

I guess the days are getting slow with any true stories out there so I guess I will light a fire on an interesting topic I really don't care about. Where are ll the Aggies bowing up with the fact that their 2013 class is ranked higher than Texas's Class. I was just on Rivals and saw the Aggs listed at 5 while Texas is at 10.

They do have 24 vs our 14 and they do have 10 4 star players which is more than I can recall them getting.

For the Record I could care less about anything A&M but this does raise a brow for me on how these numbers are calculated. Quantity vs quality matters I guess.

It really doesn't matter where they are ranked. They are Aggies and always have and always will "Aggie it". They played a one-game season, and now that one game has been taken away form them.

It has been 55 years since they were significant on a national level and how much longer since they have won a significant game which vaulted them into national prominence.

They are trying to channel the spirit of Emory Bellard by bringing back the uniforms HE designed while coaching HS ball. Some of us oldtimers remember when the attendance at Kyle Field was in the 20,000 or less range. The fact that they signed to play LSU ten straight years in Baton Rouge. Those days are gone and replaced by celebrating .500 seasons in the SEC. I hope they are better but have serious doubts.

FWIW, the new AD has Butch Davis and RichRod on speed dial.

I think the fact that we have had 2 down years out weights the fact that they bailed out like baby back ******* to the SEC

We are just 3 or 4 months away from seeing the ??wisdom?? of the aggy move.
By late October to mid November the knashing of teeth and excuse machine in Hooterville will be on wide open throttle.
aggy misery addicts everywhere will be enjoying overdoses.

Give it time, the decommit train has yet to leave the station.

Also factor in that we are only going to take 18 to at most 20 this year so there are more ships available. Our average star is right where it has been the last several years. Last year we took 28 I think so you are just seeing the natural adjustment for that large a class.

When the recruits see that the Ags are not SEC tough and get thumped things could get interesting.

Call me crazy, but I don't think the competition in the SEC is that different from the Big XII, and I think A&M will do just fine over there. If they in fact get a good fraction of the Texas talent in recruiting, they'll overtake Tennessee, Georgia, South Calolina, Arkansas, and Auburn. Even Florida in a bad year. I think they have a good chance to be the third best program over there, behind LSU and ALA, just as they were the third best program (over the long haul) behind UT and OU in our conference. Go ahead, flame away, but I will be very interested in the Aggies, and it will affect our recruiting one way or the other.

I agree but they won't be delivering on anything to help them get recruits. If they finish 3rd in their section of the SEC that puts them middle of the road just like in the Big 12. Hardly stunning or the result they hope for. I don't see recruits getting amped over that.

A&M is showing up much better in recruiting this year, no doubt. And that has to do with their move to the SEC. They have 3 players from LA and I don't remember them getting many players from LA before. Their 24 recruits is pushing their team ranking high and they will likely slide down out of the top 10 soon.

Suprised to see so many teams with over 20 recruits already.

Texas does not have that many scholarships to offer plus Texas' ranking took a relative big hit when RSJ decommitted.

That said if the Louisiana kids committed to aggy are any good, that is proof Lester is not taking aggy seriously.

Given aggy's historic ties to East Texas, and the fact that the geographic center of the SEC is somewhere in East MS or West AL, I give it about 3-5 years before aggy is, psychologically at least, not even viewed as a Texas team. At that point, no recruit from a Texas school who values being near or close to home will even consider aggy, any more than they'd consider SC.

aggy won a significant game in 98, upsetting kstate for the B12 title. I'll give 'em that one. 14 years ago, but still a good win. Wonder how long it'll be 'til tamu wins a SEC title? 14 yrs? I'll take the over

While the move to the S-E-C may be helping aggy recruiting somewhat, I can't help but think that Sumlin is an even bigger factor.

As for aggy becoming the 3rd best program over there, that would require all those other teams mentioned to decline at the same time. Ain't gonna happen.

Agree! Other than the occasional win over both Texas & Ou in the same year, aggy was never the 3rd best team in the Big 12... that was reserved for Ok. State, Missouri, Kansas St. Nebraska & occasionally Kansas for a couple years! Aggy will score points once they get a Qb & a few good receivers... but they must get a Defense to win consistently. And from what I hear coming out of Colleen Station, it won't be this year...

HDR, everyone hopes you are right about Ash. However nothing we saw last season plus in the spring provides much hope - still bad mechanics (feet and ball control).

All it takes for us aggies is a superlative coach. If that's Sumlin then things are going to really rock. Look no farther than what Mac Brown did for you-all.

Ok HDR.

Someone who attends the open practices your job is to look at Ash's feet when he throws 15+ downfield. If his feet are on a parallel plane with each other and pointed downfield, he has made progress. Someone watch and let us know.
