this is odd, first time I've seen this since 2004 - a national seed POSSIBLY having to go on the road the first weekend or two. I'd like to know what the deal is behind that.

And I'd like to know just HOW is UC-Irvine NOT a national seed.

Anyways, NU a national #5 in this projection, Texas is a #2 and host, Missouri a #2 at Southern Miss, OSU a #2 at Florida State, OU a #3 at Gainesville, and Baylor a #3 at Corvallis.

Oral Roberts and the Shockers are two teams I don't want to see anywhere NEAR Lincoln the first weekend.

I'm pretty sure Cal's baseball field doesn't have lights. I'm not sure it's possible to host a regional while playing every game in 100% daylight.

That field/seeding is laughable for numerous reasons.

Mizzou is not a 2 - they are a top 8. The Ags aren't a 3 - they are a borderline 1 at this point. Southern Miss and South Carolina have no business hosting. Southern Miss is a game over .500 in C-USA, and the Gamecocks are playing .500 ball in the SEC.

Actually, the only thing I agree with is Texas at a 2 right now.

If Missouri keeps playing like they have been, they are nowhere near a top 8, although I think it's pretty ridiculous to be discussing any of this right now.

As for a top national seed possibly not getting to host a regional, you have to prove, regardless of your seed, that you can and will provide adequate facilities. If your home field isn't adequate and you don't have access to sufficient facilities nearby (i.e. Texas playing in Round Rock last year), then the honor goes to the #2 seed in the regional. That's the way it's always been.

So the team in Texas' position, essentially hosting a Regional for Cal, would retain home-field advantage if they beat Cal, right ?

Meaning in this scenario Texas would host Rice in the Supers ? If so, sign me up.

Or would Rice get to host based on the Top 8 being upset ?

I'm sober, and confused.

being that rice is a #1 in their regional, they would host. doesn't matter, we've already won there this year. still way to early to think about.

ISR may be better, but the NCAA uses RPI. This is a regional projection, so I imagine that is the primary power ranking being used when looking at it.

I do agree with you though.
