Everything I hear about him lately he is wearing USC gear. I thought last year he would in Austin for sure. Now I am betting the house he will be at USC.
 
I heard he had been wearing a bunch of LSU stuff. Who cares what he wears, where he signs is all that matters.
 
I am just still confused why so many running backs are shying away from UT. Guys that grow up saying they want to play at UT then time comes and they go elsewhere. Every other position Mack seems to get the top in state guys year in and year out but the running backs are going everywhere but Austin.
 
Exactly. We haven't had a RB hit 1000 since Cedric. That's what, 4 seasons. It's not a perssonel issue, its a scheme issue. OU had 2 backs hit 1000, while having a Qb put up more yards than ours. And OU's RB's weren't the top RB recruits either.
 
Ced, JC, and Ricky all did pretty well with the same coaching. The system reflects the talent currently on hand. If Lache is holding out til signing day I hope we give the other in state RBs a chance to sign early. I'd hate to lose out on a DJ Jones b/c we waited for Lache to sign w/ LSU or USC on the last day.
 
Yeah, Jamaal had 1619 on 258 attempts in 2007, good for 5th best all time at Texas. That seems like a tough one to be so easily forgotten or dismissed.
 
Since Cedric we've have Selvin, JC, Vondrell, and now Whaley. Not like we haven't recruited running backs. Should have gone after Calhoun last year. Still don't understand that one. Oh well.
 
I am not sure why they didn't offer Hubert from Midway. Since they got the TE off the same team they had to have seen him play. He was the best player on that team. But he wasn't one of the top rated guys that they don't seem to get anyway.
 
Note that his aunt (Jen) reads this board and has posted here before. At one point she did state that the family loves Texas.
 
I really thought we had a good chance at this guy, and I firmly believe he will be 5-star. Saying that, we never seem to land a 5-star after June, so IMO, it doesn't look good for us.
 
I just don't understand how you know it will go down to signing day already. Why not take visit and if you know go ahead and pick a school. I could understand saying "I'm not commiting anywhere until my senior year" or something similar.

Maybe he doesn't want all of the pressure right away but is sending the smoke screen of "don't hold your breathe because it will be a while until I pick a school."
 
I feel he is sending a message by wearing USC gear when he knows he is going to be interviewed by Inside Texas. And that message isn't good for us. Hope I am wrong. I'd hate for this to turn into a signing day horse opera ala M. Bennett.
 
Let's see...mmmmmm....he is two hours from Austin so if he has strong family ties I would think that UT has a great shot. Now if the family is independently wealthy and has a private jet fueled and ready to go to the west coast every Friday I don't like our chances.
 
Lots of players say they're gonna wait until signing day, then verbal much earlier. Not saying Seastrunk does this, but I would imagine he likes all the attention he's getting right now from all the big name schools. No reason to change anything until at least he takes some visits, and L.A.'s not a half bad place to sightsee. We get him or don't...UT's still gonna wind up with one or two really good running backs in the next class.
