At the hands of Butler.

It is time to say goodbye to Rick Barnes.

I think I will be a little more optimistic than that. Horns chances of advancing to the next round are very good.

Not a Barnes fan, but if we do let him go, it better be a splash hire, Izzo has to be tired of the snow in Michigan, the guy from Iowa State can get his heart looked at at the new Med Center, Lon Kruger would really piss Sooners off, The Celtics suck.......

I think there's a legit chance Barnes is very aware the outcome today will heavily factor into his job status. I also believe the players are very hungry entering the tourney and deeply want to show they're better than what they've produced.

We did have one hell of a conference slate. 2 top-10 teams, 5 in the top-20, and 7 teams made the tourney. When 70% of the conference makes the big dance that's saying something. 3 of 10 (30%) in the Big East made it. #2, #22, and #24. I'd say there's quite a vast difference in competition between us. To only have 2 more season wins with that advantage isn't forecasting we're in for big trouble today.

This is a game this Texas team should win, and with Barnes' job and player pride on the line, we'll oust Butler. Maybe a little easier than expected...8 points or so. If we come in upset and out-muscle a physical Butler approach, I think we have too much down low for them to handle.

On Saturday when the players feel vindicated and the coach a little more secure, we get hammered and blown off the court. Texas can hang with nearly anyone when they go balls out and play very physical for the entire game. Problem is they back down in stretches and suffer lulls all too often. Especially closing out tight games. ND will romp us when we play soft ball in spurts.

Regardless of how the Butler game goes, a change needs to be made. I have been a Barnes supporter up until the ridiculous blowout at the hands of the dirt burglers in Austin. Texas should beat Butler but I tend to agree with Lunardi's prediction on the game. Per Lunardi, teams with losing records in conference don't fare well in the tourney because they have learned how to lose and Texas will do exactly what it has learned how to do, lose. If you doubt this analysis, see the ISU game in the conference tourney. I will pull for the Horns, but I don't expect much at this point.

Northeastern is out-rebounding Notre Dame 19-11 which is allowing them to keep it close.

Big 12 is not looking very strong now with Baylor and I-State going down to 14 seeds. This could get embarrassing.

The season ended the way it went with Texas underachieving and showing its rear once again when the chips were down. Turner was done a month ago and headed to the NBA when he was used so poorly for such a sustained period of time. I will always be a Barnes fan but its time for him to go.

players didn't appear hungry except for a few minutes from holmes and taylor at times. the freshman played like a freshman. the team made bad fouls and the non help on that 3 near the end was crappy knowing the guy coming over the pick was a shooter. sad, but typical.

Always been a Barnes fan, but he needs to go. And please take Taylor with you. I don't care how many points Taylor scores, it only encourages him to forget his teammates and screw up the game. His double dribble near the end was classic Taylor. Street ball mentality over and over and over . . .

And the basketball IQ of this team? Worst ever for a talented Texas team?

Butler was a much higher seed than we were so it's not a surprise they won. They were supposed to, on paper. That said, what a crapola performance but really, not unexpected. Yuck.

This was a terrible offensive display. Either Rick is a terrible offensive coach, as this type of poor performance has not been a rarity under his tenure, or he is a poor recruiter of offensive talent, with the exceptions of Aldridge and Durant.

Lammert scores 2 points, while repeatedly passing up open threes and 12 foot twos. Why?? He's a decent three point shooter. He should take the open three when its offered. Yancy takes only two three point shots. Why?? He makes about 50% of threes. Felix was 50% shooting threes today, 2 of 4. why did he not take more? Holmes made 3 0f 8, and I'll take that. If Lammert, Felix and Yancy throw up 8 each, and make 3 each (which is about their average) then that's 9 of 24 and we win the game. Handily.

Ridley scores two points. He has not been developed. His offense is no better at the end of this season than it was at the end of last season.

Butler was packed low and tight to slow Taylor's drives, and the inside game of Turner, Ridley, etc. Our guys are either scared to take what the other team is giving (today the mid range jumper and threes) or Barnes forbids it.

We were held to 48 points. That is pathetic. That is unacceptable. And this outcome lays at the offensive strategy, or lack thereof, of Coach Barnes.
