What is the best way to get Google and Yahoo ect to pick up my web site in their web crawls? I submitted my site through their submission page over a month ago, but neither search engine brings up my site when I enter the search keywords.

From my limited experience, it generally takes about 6-8 weeks for the crawlers to start finding your page, without going through one of the pay services. I have never used them so I don't have anything to compare with, but the 3 sites I have listed with Google finally started showing up in about 6 weeks. Also, your host and/or registration service should have listed the site as well. It seems that once one search engine finds it, the others are close behind.
