Scratch Dent/Floor Model Appliances in Austin

Anyone have any ideas where I can purchase a floor model/scratch and dent washer and dryer? I know there is a Conn's outlet in Houston and we are going to look there, but I would like to look around Austin as well.

I think there's a place on North Lamar just before 183 that sells scratch and dent stuff. Sometimes you can find that stuff on the floor at Best Buy, too. I hate shopping at Conn's with a passion, though, so I wish I could remember the name of the Lamar place for you.

I went there once to buy a CD Walkman: knew exactly what I wanted, walked straight to it, took it to the register to pay, should be no big deal. Well, apparently that's not how they work, since I didn't have a "sales associate" show the the product. The cashier wouldn't ring me up until an "associate" came by that she could enter into the computer, which then brought up a price that was $25 more than what was advertised and what was on the shelf. I told the cashier that, and she basically told me that whatever the computer said was right (??), so I went back to the shelf, grabbed the price tag off it, and brought it back up to her to show her that the ******* computer was not right and I wasn't going to pay the higher price. So she gets a manager, who had to call some "home office" in order to verify what the right price was, even though I had the tag right there with the matching SKU numbers and everything, and then call someone else to get an override so that they could ring up the right amount. This is all taking a long time for what should have been about a 3 minute purchase, and I'm getting pissed off, saying "Y'all know what?? Just forget about it and I'll go somewhere else." But now there are like four "associates" and this manager all gathered around and they all keep telling me that it's just going to take "another minute" before I can get my CD player and leave. So they finally get it rung up, and the dude wants my name and address to put in his computer, for their mailing list or whatever, and I said "don't bother, b/c I won't be coming back here anymore," but he said they had to put in something in order to give me a receipt so I made up some ********, paid, and left. That store sucked.

I don't if I'm talking about the same place, but there is a scratch and dent place on North Lamar, pretty much across the road from the DPS buildings. It's actually down a side street on the west side of Lamar, but that street is right across from there. When I moved into the house I'm currently in we got some appliances there. We got a hell of a deal on a refurbished side-by-side refrigerator that has worked great for 2 years, and a washer and dryer set for a pretty good price. Everything has worked fine, and that place offered a 1 yr warranty on everything they sold that didn't have a manufacturer's warranty.

That's not the place I was thinking of, but I know what you're talking about, Ian. That's the little place on Romeria, isn't it? The other place is about 1/4 mile or so south of Lamar and 183, and it's a bigger, warehouse-looking place.

I went to that place across from teh DPS office. They had some good stuff. Some of it it was even hard to find the scratch/dents. I didn't end up buying anything there, but when its time to replace any of my appliances I'll definitely be going there again.

Apparently, the web page for the one on Lamar just south of 183 isThe Link I stopped by their store once. They also sell used stuff appliances. Nonetheless, they must have had about 500 washers and dryers in their. I think they're an authorized Whirlpool Dealer selling their scratch and dent stuff. They have a huge inventory and a good selection. The one on Romeria sells nicer Maytags but they're more expensive. I prefer Whirlpools because they're easier to repair in the event of any problems.
