So there is drama. Do yo think Bama or LSU will back off because it takes a bit of work?
Why not be a big boy and leave the offer open while we purse additional options and then decide when we look to run out of scholarships. (We don't have to bend over backwards, but could man up and say, " we want you and will leave the position open for you, till it's not. So don't wait too long.")
If, there is something more to our reasoning, I be interested.
By the numbers, we are already going to have to have some early exits to accommodate the 15 scholarships committed to so far for 2013. This happens every year recently so apparently not a big concern for Mack. They make it work without it being a nasty cut-throat affair.
Like Mike, Its a matter of philosophy. You take on a kid with baggage and if its ever opened, it can hurt the entire team. It would appear that Mack has a philosophy that he takes kids that really want to be here. Had RSJ really wanted to be here, he wouldn't have re-opened his recruitment. Then you have the "reports" of possible shenanigans with his recruiting advisors. Mack doesn't follow the practices of a Less Miles or a Nick Saben. I feel this is the main reason why his recruitment was halted.
I would agree with you that we need Playmakers and the best talent available but sometimes that kind of talent comes with the "mo' Money mo' Problems" result. You can't put 1 kid no matter how much potential above all else if there is something hidden that can bring down your program. His skills will be missed... one could hope the talk is just that.... "talk."
