One kid I saw on there was Harvey Langi at 77. Saw him play Euless Trinity last year, and although he had an average day, I was impressed with him. I noticed he had us as a choice, although that doesn't always mean much. He might not be a bad out of state "sleeper" pick-up if Brown and/ or Green don't come through for us.

in case you're interested, here are the 29 uncommitted kids on the scout 300 who mention interest in texas:

interesting that 13 out of state kids from 10 states list us.

3 CA, 2 GA, and one each from AR, FL, LA, MI, NM, OK, SC, and UT.

I remember watching Harvey Langi from Bingham HS in Utah when he played against Euless Trinity last season. His team looked very much over matched but he looked damn good. He is pretty fast for a kid his size. He will probably end up at BYU or Utah and be a 4 year starter.

Based on teams needs I hope we get a RB, DT, DE, and DB down the stretch. Looking at what is still available in state:

RB - Malcolm Brown
DT - Russell
S - LaDarius Brown or Franklin Shannon
DE - Reed

Texas currently has 5 of the top 10 instate prospects (LSR 100) and 14 of the top 30.

Add in 4 above and you get possibly another 2 top 10 kids and 4 more total in the top 30.

hornpharmed:

We are not actively recruiting Ladarius Brown or Franklin Shannon. We are only really pursuing Josh Turner (CB) in the defensive backfield.

Let's say we somehow decide to take 5 (judging by Scout's 300, this would definitely be the year to do it), give me:

RB: Brown and Green
OL: Hegarty
DE/LB: Rasco (preferred) or Reed; Vaughters or Wallace
CB: Turner

Well we have a large senior class of 17. Aaron Williams could leave to NFL eary. I could easily see Mack taking close to 25 again this year. More and more kids are not redshirting and graduating early. Need to reload.

Sucks about Brown and Shannon. They look like they could be impact safeties. Turner would be a great get. Not sure we need another OL, but if he is a top 100 kid then I guess hard to turn that down.

glenn, thanks for posting the summary!!
