from a comment from the Daily Texan "1) UT spends over $50,000 a game to operate the Godzillatron"

Is this possible? How? I mean, my electric bill for a very very cold month in the metroplex was a huge $660, but this?

Well, there's something like 15 or so industrial size AC units cooling the thing off for 6+ hours, then the energy to run 7340 squared feet of HDTV so that's like running 920 52'' HDTVs, then you gotta factor in all the maintenance, operators, and ad salesmen's time, so probably.

There's also a whole crew of people working all day on the jumbotron (at all UT sports, not just football). UT contracts it out to a local production company who has to pay camera people, directors, replay editors, graphics, engineers etc.
