A school superintendent in Texas said he thought he was sending a private message when he wrote a public Facebook post blasting Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, stating, “you can’t count on a black quarterback.”

Lynn Redden, superintendent of the Onalaska Independent School District, made the comment in reference to the final play of the Texans’ 20-17 loss on Sunday to the Tennessee Titans during which Watson held onto the ball before completing a pass to receiver DeAndre Hopkins as time expired, leaving no time to try a last-second, game-tying field goal.

It was Onalaska, the Polk & San Jacinto County Sheriff's Departments probably did an exhaustive search (10-15 minutes) for the body of the person who first reported the statement, then all adjourned to Jerry's for a couple of giant pieces of pie with about five inches of calf slobber on top.
 
I have a story that is much older than just five years. The first place I ever worked had a bunch of Texas alums. One of the senior partners, very smart otherwise and very accomplished, used to tell everyone who would listen that no team with a Black QB would ever be capable of winning a national championship. Of course, by the time VY came along, that ship had long since sailed, but for this person, VY was the final nail in the coffin of that particular bias.

Sabre knows all! I have property in Carlisle about 10 minutes from Jerry’s.
 
Garrett Morris, a black man, said if you start a black QB 1st and 10 on his own 20, he will end up in the parking lot with a bucket of chicken. So there's that. :)
