School Bus Ticket Update

The Valero Security cam wasn't aimed over far enough to get the bus stopping as I pulled out of the post office. Also I can tell its my truck pulling in to the post office and then pulling out 2 mins later, but it isn't conclusive that it is me.

However, I did get pics showing the school bus stopping on 3 different days. Each time it stopped directly across from the Lakeway post office drive way . Also, there are no warning signs or lights on the sides of the bus. When the STOP arm extends to stop North - South traffic there is nothing to signal a driver on the West side of the bus that it is unloading riders.

Also, would I be able to request that the officer produce the 3 tickets he wrote after my ticket. This would establish that I was the first to receive a ticket and the last car of the 4 he pulled over. He started at the back with me and worked up the line of cars he had pulled over. Goes to back up the fact that as I looked left waiting to make a right turn, 3 cars went by before I pulled out. There was no indication that a bus was stopped across the street as they all did indeed pass the bus from the front. Make sense or just a waste of time?

Finally, is there any way to see the original thread if it has been removed? There were some good points made and I wanted to print them out.

I have searched for this post and did not find it. Did you delete it? I asked in pm and got no reply so I guess it is not an issue. Reply via pm. But it does not exist in the archives of this forum that I could find. I tried.

I remember the thread, and it had a few replies. It was on this site. I guess the gremlins ate it. They must be hungry, my first post to this thread is gone, too.

If the cop comes to court, I don't know the rules on whether you can get him to produce the other 3 tickets, but he should state under oath that he wrote that many tickets.

Did you decide on judge or jury?

I have not decided on Judge vs. Jury. I like the idea of a jury deciding the case.

I think any juror who has ever pulled out of the Lakeway Post office at 4:00 pm will realize that there is no way you can safely pull out into southbound traffic and also be aware of an unloading bus that pulls up from the opposite direction, unloading directly across from the post office on the opposite shoulder of 620.

However, I might run the risk of pissing them off for making them serve on a jury for a traffic ticket (albeit a $650.00 traffic ticket). That and they might not see past "passing an unloading school bus" and ignore my arguments.

So I talked to the Court Clerk and explained my situation. She said to mail in my info and a letter telling my side. She said that the judge would review it and get back to me.

I haven't entered a plea yet. Hopefully he will review it and just throw it out. If he doesn't I will request a jury trial as the judge would have already had the chance to throw it out.

Personally, no matter what jury case I would be assigned to I would have a certain sense of civic responsibility... & you are due your day in court if so charged by the system.

So, it wouldn't bother me. But then that's me.
