Scholarship Players on Roster

Why do we only have 10 scholarship players on the roster when the limit is 13? We lost James, Bradley, Pittman, Mason, Ward and Williams from last year and only gained Thompson, Joseph and Lucas?

Why did Barnes not recruit more guys? Were the Ward and Williams losses unexpected and too late? Did he not count on Bradley leaving early?

We could have used more depth this year. We are at a remarkable disadvantage competing against teams with 13 scholarship players.

I think the more relevant question is how a school like Kansas is able to keep players like the Moncriefs in school past their freshman or sophomre years. They have 3 legit NBA players as seniors. Our best guys turn pro after a year or two. Hamilton's probably gone after this season.

You make a valid point. We had James and Pittman last year who were seniors that were drafted, but we have lost a lot of players early. Hard to blame Durant and Aldridge for leaving so early, since they were such high draft choices.

But I am still confused as to why we are 3 scholarships short this season. I could understand maybe one short but 3 is crazy!

Williams transferred in the fall, so his scholarship can be accounted for. Not sure when Ward left. So we recruited 2 freshmen, maybe had room for 1 more. Maybe went after players too late? I don't follow recruiting but we probably only had room for 1-2 more guys at most.
