Schlitterbahn or Float trip?

I've floated the Guadalupe a few times, several years ago. Never been to the Shlitterbahn.

I now have two 5 year old sons (good swimmers) adn was planning a 3 day weekend that would include one of the above activities.

My concerns :
Schlitterbahn - crowds and lines.
Guadalupe - River and Rukus.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Shlitterbahn with 5 year olds. Guadalupe can be a bit rough in parts. If you want to river raft/tube with your boys, do the Comal.

We always do the Bahn on weekdays, usually a Monday or a Friday, and have never had any real problems with lines. I would suggest that you head over to the east part of the park first. That's the part that has most of the new rides and it can get a bit crowded later in the day. Hit it first and there should be no problems with lines.

The Bahn's only $30 for adults and $25 for kids. Maybe I'm just getting old but I'd much rather pay that to take my kids there than not take them down the Guadalupe with the drunken masses.

For 5 year olds, Schlitterbahn is a better choice because there is variety, and their attention span is usually about that of a flea. They are all about changing activity 2-3 times an hour rather than just floating along lazily for hours on end. Just my experience with the little buggers FWIW.

I agree with the Schlitterbahn vote....I have a 5 year old as well and I'll be taking her to the Bahn instead of the floating route. Plus, there are some parts of the waterpark specifically dedicated to the kids where you don't really have to pay much attention to them and you can enjoy yourself for a moment or two.
