Saw 'The Sting'

Again. On snow day here in Houston on the cable telly-vision.

This movie does not suck. Really, it doesn't.

This (maybe) was Redford's best movie. Maybe Newman's also but maybe The Huster for him. (yeah, yeah, that's a lot of maybe's).

Obviously a total classic.

To me it also reveals how much better of a pure actor Newman was compared to Redford. Reford could play one role well- little dialogue, often reflexive, no emotional range. Just no depth.

Newman could paly any role fantastically well. Unlimited range.

I watched it as well. I am always entertained by The Sting, despite the fact that I've seen it at least three dozen times.

And Newman is just plain hot in it. Hot, hot, hot.

You stayin' for breakfast, or you do already know how to eat, too?

Good movie. There's not many of Newman's films that I don't like. I think "Cool Hand Luke" is probably my favorite.

Those who think Newman was great in everything never saw The Silver Chalice or, worse yet, The Outrage.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Hud, in which he played a complete jerk in rural west Texas and was totally believable.

The Sting was just about a perfect film---super script and direction, perfect music, good performances and the best buddy combo ever.

Also on last week was A Man for All Seasons, in which Robert Shaw played Henry the 8th and was very good.

One of my all-time favorite flicks.

Love Newman and Redford...

"Tough luck, Lonnehan. But that's what you get for playing with your head up your ***!

Absolute classic. Anyone who has not seen this movie needs to do so.

Ya follow?

I'm also a big fan of "The Sting" and of Paul Newman. I recently saw "Hombre" for the first time and was very impressed.
