.......starring Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee Meryl Streep with my movie going wife and we found it pretty boring.
The Link
Not nearly as exciting as "Iron Man."
Spoilers ahead!!!!!
Streep has been Oscar nominated 17 times, has won twice and she's excellent here playing former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
However, the story wasn't very interesting for me, except for the part about her life before she began her rise to political power.
But the makeup Streep wore was absolutely great and, after what was recently offered to us in "J. Edgar," my faith in hair styling, greasepaint and prosthetics or, as Delbert McClinton put it, "Lipstick, Powder and Paint...." was restored.
"....is you is or is you ain't?"
Her appearance looked real and Meryl's portrayal of Thatcher from about age 35 until the end was very believable.
Her looks, voice and mannerisms were spot on.
The younger actress who played Thatcher's earlier life was good too.
Someone with more interest than I in British politics and Margaret Thatcher, in particular, might find more to enjoy than I did.
Lots of flashbacks and old news film excerpts slowed down a fairly stagnant storyline.
Recommended for fans of Meryl Streep, good acting, excellent makeup and stuffy British politics.
If either Streep or her makeup wins an Oscar, that could be reason enough for film buffs to see it, but don't expect the story to be worth the ticket price.
I recommend most folks just rent it and only watch the parts that interest you, if that.
Anybody seen it?
