Saw 'The Dark Knight Rises'.....

And thought it was OK.

I'm glad so many folks enjoyed it.

I just saw it with my 35 year old son.

We wanted to catch it on the big screen.

I'm an Anne Hathaway fan and she was fun to watch.

But they needed to show better views of her figure in her Catwoman suit

I was a fan of the Batman comic books growing up.

Bought and read them faithfully.

Their darkness simply appealed to me, I guess.

And I saw the other Batman movies.

They were OK too.

But, this flick was too long and lacked having enough cool gadgets for me.

The one with Heath Ledger was also overly long and a bit complex story-wise, IMHO.

I thought "The Avengers" was much more enjoyable as an action hero movie.

Because it had more action, a fresher script and, I believe, a better and more straight forward storyline.

And Scarlett Johansson's figure was shown off more often.

Otherwise, Christopher Nolan certainly gave Batman movie fans their money's worth.

This post isn't meant to disparage the movie or challenge anybody who liked it.

JMO.

Different strokes for different folks.

Was Gotham City in the USA?

I guess so, because that kid sang "The Star Spangled Banner" before the football game.

I know Superman fought for "Truth, Justice and the American Way," but I never associated Batman with being a US citizen.

Whatever.

Fred, it is permissible on this forum to have paragraphs with more than one sentence. Like this one.

I feel like I just read a very weird free-form haiku.

I saw Dark Knight Rises

Lots of buildings blowing up

What was Bain saying?

As for the movie, I thought it had some problems. Once the timer is set, the movie just seems to flounder. I thought there was remarkably little real tension or anticipation. Much of the climactic action was sort of stupid, too.

Hard to believe that the director who so brilliantly intercut sequences happening at different speeds in Inception could have such a flat period of film time in the Batman movie.

Maybe he was trying to tie in too many characters without really ever getting far enough with any of them. More Anne Hathaway would have been nice even if it means cutting into the time of the emergent Robin.

Worth the price of admission, but not nearly as good as other Nolan work.

Hollywood has completely lost its ability to edit movies. I was fairly bored for much of the movie. Very disappointed.

I should have checked the movie length before going. Anything over 2 hours will have to wait until it makes it to DVD so I can watch at home.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll just wait for this on DVD and watch it at home. Besides, it's much safer than going to the theater these days.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

you mean other than the ending when the equipment, cave and resources were handed over to him...and he quit the police force? Maybe I jump to conclusions but it sure seemed like he is to be the Robin. Same background, certain raw skills in common with B. Wayne. I could be very wrong but that's the impression I got.

If Robin isn't being set up for the future, there is no need for the character in the movie. It's a waste of screen time if there is no future story for him: his storyline was one of the bloating factors of the film.
