Saw 'Taken'

I didn't think anyone else was comparing "Taken" with those movies either.

I was though, just to add a new thought and give my opinion about movies I thought were better.

I'd enjoy watching any of those flicks again, but for me being "Taken" once was more than enough, although, as I said, I thought this Liam Neeson cinematic offering had some worthwhile parts.

Everyone has valid opinions about some movies being better than others and I was simply giving my thoughts.

I liked "First Blood" better too, but I was specifically referencing the latest one, "Rambo," in my post.

I had to look up "The Amateur" to see if I'd seen it.

I didn't remember John Savage's name, but I recall Marthe Keller from "Marathon Man" and "Black Sunday."

Liam Nesson mentored Dalton to some extent. I thought it was pretty good, though I'd be pissed if I was Albanian.

My ex took my 14 yo daughter to it because she thought it would be a teaching lesson on how dangerous the world is for careless girls. My daughter just said it was violent.

It was stupid the way they made his daughter run like an 11 yr old girl. She was 18 and hot, but they wanted her to come across as goofy and young when she ran.

I got the Blu-ray edition this week and watched a little of the voice-over by the writer. If you like Luc Besson, you'll enjoy these specials on how the film was written.

Besson also had a hand in B13 (excellent in Blu-ray) and also The Deep Blue which I like just for Jean Reno. Who was also the main man in Besson's "Leon" (The Professional).

The uncut version of 'Taken' is barely different from the theatrical release, but I only spot-checked it. The run times are very close. In the uncut version he stabs rods into Marko's thighs (to apply voltage) whereas in the regular version he clamps onto the metal chair rails.

Besson also did his verison of "It's a Wonderful Life" in Paris with the blonde Angel.

BTW, if you re-watch that scene where Brian takes on the whole room, he first resurveys the room man-for-man just before he reminds Marko they'd talked two days previously and remarks, "I said I'd find you."

Saw "Taken" and really enjoyed it. A definite cut above other fare in this genre, especially with Liam Neeson. Some of the broad themes hint at current events which is why I think the movie has hit a nerve.

On a personal level, I am glad to see Liam receiving recognition and enjoying success with "Taken," especially after his wife's death.

Let me add "Darkman" to the list of impressive roles he played.

I thought it sucked for the most part. Predictable storyline, terrible acting, ****** directing, less than plausible, cheesy, etc.

Saw it last night....thought it was good.

What does it saw about me and my daughter when we laughed hysterically when the chick spotter got nailed by the truck...?

Saw the unedited version on Netflix. Pretty good movie. Besson is a master at these kind of movies.

When Neeson started **** in the 'mob house' or whatever it was I was thinking to myself how outmanned he was. Man was I wrong. I don't think he even took a punch.

^^ I did too gecko

This movie did a good job of keying on the nerve that fathers of daughters (like myself) hope they never have to experience. Even when he shot his ex-buddy's wife in the arm, I could sympathize.
