Saw Rick Barnes this morning

I've been as hard on Rick Barnes as anyone but I have to say he is a very pleasant person. I ran into him this morning at a smoothie shop. He was with his daughter. It was just the three of us and they were ahead of me trying to decide what to buy. Rick looked right at me (they had clearly been for a jog as he was sweatihng profusely) and he smiled and said, "Go on ahead we're still deciding."

I think he won me over on that one....

I got to have a one-on-one conversation once with Rick Barnes, and it was light-hearted, but absolutely genuine. How many people who are pretty high up on the scale are so much nicer in person than what you would expect?

It made me like him, too. Being a nice guy goes a long way with me.

He really is a fantastic guy. I'm lucky enough to call both his son and daughter close friends. The entire Barnes family is very genuine and full of love. Good people and wonderful blessings.

You should have quizzed him on what to do offensively in the last minute of a tied game. Then we would have something to discuss on this board.
