.... starring Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon, Angela Bassett, Alan Alda and Vera Farmigia.

My wife and I really liked it a lot.
I'd rate its cinematic excellence in depicting and dramatizing the inherent rub between investigative journalism and national security right up there with "All the President's Men" while surpassing such films as "The Insider" or "The Pelican Brief."
Kate Beckinsale may never have an opportunity to do better in a serious role.
She was very good.
The thespian interplay between her, Farmigia and the other supporting actors was quite believable, IMHO.
This cast and timely story, moved me, in a personal way, more than "The Killing Fields."
What I thought was the overuse of extreme closeups in the cinematography is the only quibble I have about this film and, if I hadn't mentioned that, perhaps y'all wouldn't even have noticed it.
If you liked "To Die For," "No Way Out," "Erin Brockovich" or those movies I mentioned earlier, you could find this flick surprisingly worthwhile as we did.
Not an action filled movie, instead it's the well filmed avalanche of consequences endured which earned my favorable viewer's reaction.
In "The Departed" an amazingly total **** storm of related happenings battered a whole bunch of characters.
Here Kate Beckinsale's character, alone, faces more real trouble than she's been confronted with since "Pearl Harbor," "Van Helsing," "Underworld" or "Brokedown Palace."
We were moved, enlightened and well entertained.
