new low budget film by a director from Austin and starring Matthew Mc and Reese Witherspoon, both very good as Romeo and Juliet on alcohol and some other downward spiral substances. The stars were two kids of about 14 years who live near the river in small town Arkansas and both have conflicted homelifes. Very good on the problems of being poor and bored in rural America and the sense of desire for adventure that life inspires.

TRy to imagine On The Road with small town kids from Arkansas who can't go on the road just yet.

Small roles for Sam Shepard as a fellow who lives on a houseboat on the backriver and Joe Don Baker as a vengeance desiring father who wants MM dead.

Recommended for people tired of comic book takeoffs.

Wow...... looks great

I got mega chills watching the trailer. When my freinds and I were about that age (they look more like 12 rather than 14) We had an abandoned boat clubhouse just like that hidden deep in the eastern Washington pine forest. Though it was not stuck in a tree, it did however have evidence that someone had lived in it for a spell. We were always paranoid that the person would come back and we would have to fight the guy off.

We were from broken homes, poor and rural and had the time of our lives. Our childhood was equal parts Goonies, Stand by me, slingblade, and this movie. I would nt have traded it for anything. Anyway... sorry for the tangent, cant wait to see it.

Very, very good movie. Nice to see Mathew McC broadening his range with some very good roles in small movies. But this movie is not his alone. Great cast.

Well written, paced, shot and performed. The fabulous woman in my life loved it as well.

I thought it was pretty good.
