....., a Showtime TV presentation now available on NETFLIX, about the research team of Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson, who pioneered the study of human sexuality and the diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders and dysfunctions from the 1950s until the 1990s.

As a cinema buff, a biology major, a sex enthusiast, someone who seeks out knowledge and that recognizes a well-told story, I found much to enjoy, watching this four disc, twelve episode series.
In my personal evaluation, the storytelling here rates up there with that in "Breaking Bad," and "The Wire."
The vibe here actually reminded me the more of "Mad Men," except this is about sex research and people in the '50s instead of being a look at folks in the advertising industry during about that same time period.
I fully recognize that I am at or very near the top of any list of viewers in the target audience for this exact offering, however I highly recommend it for others who find sex interesting and aren't offended by the "F" word, a little gynecologic language and some, I thought tastefully done, partial nudity.
There's drama, humor and human interest aplenty and although it occasionally has some (edgy and accurate, I thought) soap opera sensibilities and tendencies, so did the three excellent series that I favorably compared it to above.
Anyway, it kept my attention and gets my appreciation for nice handling of some fairly difficult to handle subject matter, plus there are believable characterizations, decent acting and an accurate depiction of the time period involved and of the human condition in general.
I've actually read some of Masters and Johnson's very dry, published findings and, believe me, watching this succulent biopic is a whole lot more enjoyable and interesting way to peruse and understand just what they accomplished.
Anybody seen it?
