Just saw the two played in the Prudential Center Saturday in the Newark National Invitational. Here are my 2 cents obervations:
Myck Kabongo: definitely the most impressive player on the court though he perhaps also the youngest. freakish long wing span like Durant, i think as quick as TJ Ford if not quicker (maybe things look quicker in person). excellent passing in transition game, great in penertration and attack the basket, led the game in scoring 23 as a point gard. Need to improve: very skinny and careless turn overs. but the kid is only a 16 sorphamore, so any compaint would be insane. Was TJ already a floor general in his sophamore year? anyway, i think sky is the limit for this kid.
Tris Thompson: good but not sure deserves that top 5 ranking in the conuntry. can dribble to the net and great running the floor but not seem to be very agile even for a big man. bad in defensive rebounding.
It's weird watching two kids that not going to play for the Horns at least in a year and a half, but heck, it is not too early for my vested interest as long as they are this good. certainly hope Barnes can keep going and make their school Texas Prep since it has become a national powerhouse and got a great coach.
