....and, as long standing (actually sitting) cinema movie fans with many decades of movie watching experience, my dear wife and I enjoyed it a lot.

FAIR WARNING STATEMENT: THIS IS NOT A WILL SMITH MOVIE, DESPITE HAVING A SIMILAR NAME TO TWO OF HIS FLICKS.

The Link

Younger moviegoers, who didn't get to grow up watching Hitchcock's work on both the silver screen and TV, probably won't dig it as much as we did; however, as a NETFLIX rental it should be entertaining for movie buffs of whatever age on an otherwise slow night.

Starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren as Alfred and his wife Alma, this film also features Ralph Macchio, the Karate Kid, in a small role (just in case you were wondering whatever happened to him).

I thought this adapted screenplay (I'll search out and read the book it's based on) was especially worthwhile the way it showed how their personal lives suffered an intertwined crisis during the making of "Psycho."

Even allowing for dramatic license, as a fan of "Hitch" ("Hold the cock."), I was drawn in.

Scarlett Johansson was very good playing Janet Leigh, particularly during the famous shower scene, and James D'Arcy and Jessica Biel were well-cast as Anthony Perkins and Vera Miles.

I appreciated this flick in much the same way I enjoyed "My Week With Marilyn:" as a revealing, probably largely truthful, look at Hollywood celebrities and at classic moviemaking, both in front of and away from the camera.

Just as the movie about Miss Monroe, we found "Hitchcock" charming.

If being cinematically charmed is not something you can submit to and enjoy, you probably should choose another flick.

Especially recommended for fans of Alfred and/or his films and/or anyone else who has an interest in seeing it, and/or not.

Anybody seen it?

I said I thought it was probably largely truthful and revealing.

That means it seemed to me to be honest.

I purposefully gave out no spoilers.

Your question is non-specific as to exactly what you are inquiring.

I believe the controversy surrounding Hitchcock's alleged misogyny came about as the result of his relationship with Tippi Hedren - primarily during the filming of "The Birds".

The HBO film 'The Girl" depicts a Hitchcock obsessed with Hedren that becomes almost vengefully sadistic in his treatment of her when his advances are spurned.

Hitchcock is essentially portrayed as a sexual predator in the film, but actresses like Kim Novak and Louise Latham, as well people that knew him have adamantly dismissed the accusations made in that film.
