.....and found it to be very good movie making, but certainly not a film suited for everybody's viewing.
Lots of nudity, sex and drug use, plus it features transsexuality, homosexuality, AIDS, good and bad things about doctors, hospitals, policemen and the Federal Drug Administration plus a little bit of rodeo bull riding.
The Link
This slice of life movie (based on a true story) is nominated for 6 Oscars.
It's up for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay (directly written for the screen), Best Editing and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
I thought the acting was excellent and the storyline well-realized and revealing.
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto each transformed their usual on screen appearance almost completely to deliver their fine thespian performances.
This film reminded me somewhat of the expose aspects in "Silkwood" or "Erin Brockovich" and of the sad drama in "Precious" and "Philadelphia."
If you find "Dallas Buyers Club" to your liking, you might also enjoy director Pedro Almodovar's 1999 flick "All About My Mother (Todo Sobre Mi Madre)."
The Link
It won a golden statuette from the Academy for Best Foreign Language Film.
Any thoughts?
