.....starring Oscar nominee Julie Christie a while back.

The Link

My wife and I appreciated and enjoyed both the movie and her performance.

We each thought she would be Oscar nominated.

The movie was good and her performance was the very best part of it, much like "Venus" with Peter O'Toole last year.

Recommended for those who will savor a realistic, introspective, well acted, beautifully and thoughtfully filmed movie about relationship changes that can accompany the human certainty of growing old.

Those who don't care to or don't need to consider any of that stuff yet should simply stay away while you can.

It should be waiting for me when I get home today. I am excited to see it, I have heard from more than one source that her performance is outstanding.

And I absolutely loved Venus, due mostly to Peter O'Toole's performance.

I thought Julie Christie was about the hottest older lady I've ever seen in a movie. She did an outstanding job. I liked the actor who played her husband, too.

It's heart rending for anyone who has a loved one experiencing Alzheimer's. Heck, it's bad enough for anyone who doesn't.

I like how the attendant calls the husband to account at one point, reminding him that as angelic and unselfish as he's coming off, there's also some guilt involved, too.

I was glad I saw it, although my stomach was in knots after it was over.

BTW, for me the best performance I saw all year was the lead actress in Le Vie en Rose, Marion Cotilliard. In fact, I think it's the best performance I've ever seen by anyone.

when it comes to hot old women in movies, you have to check with Helen Mirren first. Because she has that market cornered.

Did you see Shadowboxer, Soul Glo? If you think she's hot, you ought to check that one out. She plays a hit man --- well, hit woman --- partnered business wise and otherwise with a character played by Cuba Gooding, Jr..

It's not for everybody. In fact, I don't know who I'd recommend it to. I guess someone who thinks Helen Mirren is a hot older lady. It's a challenging flick in many ways. Not an action flick by any stretch of the imagination, but there's some violence, numerous uncomfortable scenes, and some decent twists, although the last one was a little over the top. Still, check it out.
