CNN in the 12 o'clock (Eastern) hour updating their early breaking reports that in the past 48 hours, the Ukrainian forces are using ground-to-ground BALLISTIC missiles. These are being tracked by heat trails by US intelligence, origins from Ukrainian positions, into rebel-held areas.

CNN reports the use of such missiles runs contrary to US position to expediently resolve things, "but it's so sensitive no one is likely to come out and criticize Ukraine's forces."

The missiles, CNN reports, have landed 17 miles from the jet liner wreckage, the area the US wants to see come to some kind of standing peace. To get inspectors and int'l personnel in there.

That said, isn't a ballistic missile a really long range missile?
