just a reminder. Open practice tomorrow at 1 pm at the FEC. I'll be working until 1pm so I'll see you all around 1:30pm.

Also, the VB team (#2 nationally) will be hosting Colorado at 4pm.

Sounds like a full afternoon and evening of UT sports: from WBB to FB that evening.

getting ready to watch the fb game. I'll check to see if anyone has put anything up by tomorrow morning.

Got there late due to work but got to see the scrimmage they had with the guys—several five minute scrimmages.

No question—Horns will be looking to run every chance they get. Brit and AT are pretty much money in finishing off a fast break. Kat and Yvonne also had some nice finishes at the basket.

AG was really good last season blocking shots. She’s better now, more patient, doesn’t get out of position very much. It also looks like she will be a more viable option offensively than last year. Cokie and AG are going to be a really tough rotation in the post. Cokie is pretty smooth inside. It was easy to spot what the coaches talked about before. Cokie is not shy about making herself a target for a pass inside. Biggest problem is the same one AG had last season, she seemed to try to block all the shots and got out of position a bit too much. They did play together some. That‘s going to be a tough d-fence to get through. One thing they will have to watch is getting fouls. Speaking of which, I noticed only one FT by AG, she missed it. Cokie made two that I recall.

Lots of outside shots made by the guards and wings. Brit seems to have that outside shot down pat. Erika has a really quick release and she was hitting it consistently. It was good to see Earnie in a game situation without any braces. She looks quicker. Kristen made a couple of nice shots, including at least one putback through traffic.

The scrimmages were pretty physical with players on both sides hitting the floor regularly. The crowd got loud when AG ripped down an offensive board and made the put back while being fouled. I noticed her being really aggressive in pursuing rebounds. Cokie was pretty good rebounding in spots.

Same as last year, Horns spend a lot time trapping and getting steals. Team seems to be on the same page in knowing when to double or triple a ballhandler. It usually resulted in a steal or errant pass.

It was a great way to get a bit of a fix before the games start. Hopefully, there will be more open practices once in a while. They are entertaining to watch and, for me, at least, it helps in understanding what to watch for in games.

Season's right around the corner.

Don't you think if Texas is planning on running that the team is playing to the strength of UConn?

Unless Texas has had a significant upgrade in talent, I don't think your team can run with UConn.

I'm not saying you won't beat UConn as I think the game will be closer then expected. However if you run, the game could be a blow out.
