The game got off to a frustrating start offensively. In the bottom of the 1st, the Horns had runners on the corners with no outs, but couldn't bring anyone home. Tant K'd and Weiss hit into a DP.
Nowhere to go but up from there. But, I have faith in Augie and the 'Horns.
Stafford is struggling tonight, 2 walks and 2 hits given up and he has not pitched 3 innings yet. Horns have a single in each inning but have hit into 2 double plays.
Another pitcher's duel. At least the guys are faring better than the softball team--the girls lost to Cougar High earlier today (1-0) and are trailing ULaLa 3-0 in an elimination game. And, on top of that, it is all occurring on our home turf.
Softball team peaked too darn early just like men's basketball team it seems? Earlier in the year they could not lose a game, now it seems they cannot win one.
Aggie starter pitching a great game, thru 6 he has not walked a batter and has given up 4 hits. He has 5 k's. No score in top of the 7th. Loy, Payton, Walsh and Lusson have the singles for Texas.
Aggie starting pitcher right now is dominating the Horns. Top of the 8th, No score. Texas has a great record despite the fact they are not even a decent hitting team, their pitching and defense has to be outstanding because they cannot hit. Have to hand it to them though, they are a very good team despite their lack of offense.
Still a bunch of goose eggs across the board for the guys. The girls are now down 5-0 in the top of the 6th ("Turn out the lights..."). Wow, hard to believe the wheels fell off the softball team so quickly and drastically.
A Connie Clark team without Cat O or equivalent will not win championships, but the AD remains happy. Really telling to drop these games at home. Cougar High for god's sake.
