At this moment, we have 3 recruits making official visits in Austin this weekend... Daje Johnson, Dalton Santos and Bryce Cottrell.

***Daje Johnson - Mack Brown, Harsin, Wyatt & Applewhite all visited Johnson for an in-school visit today and the 3 asst. coaches then continued on with their in-home visit into the eve. Mack did not due to a prior obligation, but he did get to visit with Johnson's dad while at school... word from sources in Pflugerville said Johnson thought 'everything went great today' with the in-school & in-home visit

*TCU HC Gary Patterson and an asst made an in-school/in-home visit today & tonight trying to make their last pitch for Daje. Appears Patterson's in-home visit did not last long...

Daje Johnson is still committed to TCU and will head to Austin Friday afternoon. With the visit by all the coaches today, would seem to me that DJ is in-line for a scholarship offer...

*** Dalton Santos had in-home visits from both Texas & Tennessee on Wednesday eve and the Texas visit is still on. It's been covered in another thread that Dalton & his dad both grew up huge Longhorn fans, so the fact that the OV is still on is big, especially after the Tennessee visit.

Sounds to me that Johnson & Santos are ripe for the picking... or in this case, 'flipping' over to the good guys! A couple of pay sites also agree that these two will live in an orange house by Sunday, if not sooner...

*** As of this eve, Bryce Cottrell is scheduled to visit Austin this weekend even after a Wednesday in-home visit from an Oregon asst. coach. Chip Kelly has already made his in-home to Plano, sorry Ducks! Cottrell has been offered by Texas but still remains committed to Oregon, yet he is making the OV down to visit the campus. Word is it's a 50/50 proposition if Cottrell makes it down to Austin, and with the Twitter note below, it sounds like it's game on...

Confirmed by this tweet by Blake Munroe.

Spoke with #Oregon DE commit Bryce Cottrell (Plano West) moments ago. Will head to Texas tomorrow for a weekend long visit #UT #ducks #horns

One note of interest... and I think it's of particular importance is to bring to light that Cottrell's girlfriend at Plano West is committed to play goalie for the Texas women's soccer team!

Sounds to me like the odds just went up!

According to what I've read and heard this week, we:

Are a sinking ship.
Play in the 6th best conference.
Had an easy schedule last year.
Don't put players in the NFL.
And, don't play defense.

Go figure.

Yeah. Glass houses and all. Problem is, I live in Knoxville so I can't be too much of an *** as I almost feel like a rep of Texas.

I know; I know. I just have to tread lightly considering my presence here. There are quite a few people that I am friends with or work with that could probably expose my internet anonymity if they really thought about it. I don't want to be the guy that, A) makes Texas look bad and, B) looks bad among my friends and colleagues.

latest news at Sat. 4:45pm

ESPN is reporting that Daje Johnson has committed to Texas, effectively flipping his TCU to live in an Orange House. I haven't found anything on any pay-sites as of yet.

Carrington Byndum, Daje's host for the weekend sent a text message to Hookem.com last night that DJ would flip before the weekend was over... but most of already had that feeling! Stay tuned...

Haven't heard a word about Dalton Santos as of yet... no news if good news!

With that said, Bryce Cottrell, Plano West LB/DE reportedly sent a text message at 3:00am in the freaking morning to Oregon's "Duck Territory", a 247Sports affiliate to Hookem.com and has said "My heart is in Oregon" and "Texas isn't the place for me"! Then mid morning, a poster on Hookem.com said his family isn't sure what he will do. With our staff, it doesn't appear this thing is over till they say it's over! And a girlfriend who will be going to school in Austin can NEVER be underrated...

More to come...

I just watched youtube videos of Daje, D Santos, & Bryce and I got to tell you, the most impressive of the three is Santos. He's just a damn good football player that is extremely fast for his size and closes in on tackles fast. I liked Daje next because he's just a really good athlete that can be used where our needs are. I like Bryce to, but it wouldn't be as big of a loss if he chose Oregon.

Santos was a lifelong Horn fan. He's an outstanding player worthy of a schollie anywhere. Grades and police records are not an issue. That's all I need to know to know I want him on the 40 acres. Winning the spelling bee in 8th grade would just be piling on

Not to nitpick but I'm not crazy about how he carries the ball on all his 90 yard bursts

, but we won't utilize him as a running back, right?
I only keep one eye on recruiting but didn't someone on here say he will probably play on the D side on the line?

Apparrantly Santos was able to resist jumping at the offer. Tennessee may be able to hang on with his verbal commitment. Guilt can be a powerful ally
