Sarah Palin and Glenn Rice

I doubt many Republican fanbois will hold the Glen Rice thing against her, but the affair with her husband's business partner and the snorting of cocaine while snowmobiling might prove harder to overcome.

What the hey are you guys talking about?

I'm in the dark here!

Ah! Just Googled Palin and Rice. Seems like nobody's business to me.

Is there evidence of the alleged affair mentioned in the second post? I mostly care from a shameful gossipy standpoint. Don't know that it really matters as a qualification for office.

RomaVicta,

It's all in McGinness' new book.

He's proved to be a very reliable journalist in the past. I doubt he'd make such an accusation without the necessary documenting.

Post number three on this prurient thread. I think it's funny that the key detail about her alleged cocaine use is that she, OMG!, snorted it off an oil drum! CAN YOU IMAGINE!?!?!?!

Had she done so off a shiny 1980s glass dinner table with a hundred dollar bill, then we have no problem.

If this author does not have great, traceable sources, this book and the balleyhoo that will no doubt ensue is just wrong.

If she wasn't positioning herself to be the spokeswoman and personification of the Grizzly/Soccer Moms, the whole expose would be generally worthless politically. To me, it's generally worthless anyway.

I don't much care that people have lived lives and done things outside of their political lives. We force public figures to be hypocrites by making them claim to have been lily white characters their entire lives. Then we crow when the other guy has a blemish.

Idiot world.

I've been drinking early today, so overall coherence may be suffering.

I don't care for Sarah Palin as a politician or public figure, but I don't think she had anything to do with the shooting in Arizona nor do I care that she may have had sexual flings or tried common drugs in the course of her life.

There's a fine old American saying that has fallen sadly by the wayside: It's none of my business.

I've only read one McGinnis book, Fatal Vision. I thought it was a good book. The subject. Dr. Jeffrey McDonald didn't like him much, sued and got a nice out of court settlement. Not that it did him much good, serving a life sentence in federal prison for muders of his wife and daughters.

This is one of these stories that's so outlandish that I would assume nobody would make it up unless it was true. However, there's one person who could settle this rumor for me - Glen Rice.

Sarah Palin would deny this whether it's true or not. Her response is irrelevant. However, I don't see any reason for Glen Rice to lie, so a reporter needs to just walk up to Rice and ask, "Glen, did you bang Sarah Palin?" Why would he lie?

If he didn't, he'd probably say, "No - wish I had." If he did, he'd probably say, "Hell yeah, I tapped that ***!" He'd probably be proud of it.

I seen a UFO last night and I found out my house has real ghost. My proof? I saw it with my own eyes. Take that!

Crockett,

McDonald sued McGinness for 15 million dollars not because of any inaccuracies in the book, but for breaching a contract between he and McGinness for using fraudulent methods to gather material for the book.

The book was a multi-million copy bestseller and McGinness concluded that it would be cheaper to go the out-of-court settlement route ---- for 325k ---- than to pay lawyers to try the case.

The accuracy of the book has never been in question.

BI, McGinnis is definitely a man who in the past has written what he believes and has suffered the consequences for it.

Reporters should not sleep with the subjects of their stories. She met him while covering the Great Alaska Shootout, a basketball tournament he was playing in. Shame on her. That is an unfair way to get an advantage over the other reporters.

Now if she just had a thing for black men, I guess that would be ok.

On the other hand, if she just liked to do jocks, may she rot in hades.

"She emerges, holding Trig. Once the TV cameras and still photographers have had their fill, she hands him off to an assistant, who soon puts him down on the asphalt parking lot and lets him crawl. The lot is covered with broken glass, cigarette butts, and old chewing gum, and Trig is barefoot. Eventually Piper comes along and puts him in a stroller."

I never watch MSNBC, but I did look just to see what they are covering on it because none of the other cable news shows were covering it at that time. They reported Glenn Rice stated that he and Palin had a good friendship when she was a sports reporter. I keep hearing from here that Rice is claiming he did. Does anybody have a direct quote from Rice other than the one the sleezy news channel MSNBC reported?
