Just looking for recommendations on any fun stuff to do in Santa Monica, we're getting there Thursday night around 7ish and will be there thru Sunday. We have a mostly free day Friday, and a free night Thursday. It's me (male) and 8 females (women's tennis), money isn't really an issue..just looking for some fun things to do/places to go and to eat. If it helps any, we're staying at the Loews hotel. Thanks in advance!

I've got a friend (from Texas) who works at MTV. I'm sure that he'd love to give 8 tennis bunnies a tour of the facilities. (In Santa Monica at 26th & Colorado or just about 26 blocks from the Loews Hotel.)

[EDITED]

Other than that, I'd recommend the usual-

Venice Beach
3rd Street Promenade
Brentwood (San Vicente)
Upper Santa Monica (Montana)
Santa Monica Pier

PS- What are the ages of the girls/women?

Thanks for the suggestions, the MTV one sounds pretty awesome, I will talk it over with the girls. Our traveling party is basically me (22), and eight girls between 18-23, a coach mid-20s, and the head coach in her 40s. On our down time we're pretty much free to do whatever we want, as long as its legal and doesn't make UT look bad. Thanks for the suggestions so far, and for pointing me to the other thread that I didn't even see!

Moonshadows?

Many are under 21 and just think of the liability issues of allowing them near a drunk Mel Gibson!

That being said, the girls would definitely love eating out on the deck in a booth or on a bed. It's a nice place to have a drink while watching the sunset. But I don't know if this is the right trip for a visit. (But that's up to the Coach.)

Moonshadows has the best calamari I've ever had. I'm sure the tennis girls would love it, but as pointed out, it's mostly for the 21+ crowd.

As far as other SM activities go, you really can't beat the beach. This weekend was really the first weekend of full-on summer, weather-wise, and who doesn't like the beach?

Malibu isn't that far away - you can drive up the coast and head to Surfrider Beach - it has a totally different vibe than Santa Monica - laid back and a cool spot for kicking back on the sand.

It's been a year or so since my last visit but there is an outstanding locally-owned restaurant on Ocean Blvd. called Chez Jay's. Really cool, laid back place with great food. Here's their website:
