Santa Ana airport

So, long story short I have to pick someone up at SNA Thursday morning of the game.

Anyone have any advice? I know it's going to be a ***** probably cause it's a good ways, plus the flight gets in at 9 am. What can I expect traffic wise and what is the best route to get there from LA area?

i am flying into Santa Ana that morning as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming we should avoid going through downtown.

I did this in 2006, and then came into Pasadena from the east on the foothills expressway (210). It takes a good hour, but traffic wasn't too terrible. Since you have people in the car, you can also use the HOV lanes.

No worries, friends. From the airport terminal, go N on Macarthur to the 405 (directly n of the airport) and go W for a mile or so to the 55 N.

Proceed on 55 to the 5 (5 miles or so). 5 N to 57 N ( you will see Angel Stadium). Stay on 57 N until it becomes 210 N. Cruise on in to Pasadena from there.

Easy as pie to do. You have plenty of time.

To the original poster: where in the "LA area" are you going to be? The routes will vary greatly. Are you in Hollywood? Marina del Rey? There's a big difference.

I have made the trip many times as I had an office at 800 Colorado in Pasadena and stayed down in Orange County.

First of all, have them meet you on the departure level upstairs. If flying Continental, tell them to meet you at the statue of John Wayne.

When leaving SNA, get on the 405 to the 55 or directly on the 55 if possible. Take the 55 north to the 5 to the 57. Stay on the 57 to 210 (about an hour). Take 210 West to Pasadena.

At 9 AM, it is likely to be an hour and a half or more. Be sure to take advantage of the HOV lanes whenever possible in Orange County.

Avoid the 405 going north and the 22 (Garbage Grove Frwy) at all costs.

This route takes you around the far east side of LA (Diamond Bar, West Covina) and gives you an excellent view of that fine & beautiful

institution of higher learning known as Cal State Fullerton. Just look for the giant neon sign that looks like it belongs in front of a shopping mall. It'll be on your left.

I'll be coming from the Glendale area.

The other thing is I have to go to the Hilton at Universal Studios after leaving SNA.

How bad is Highway 5 both ways at those times in the morning?
