I wish Beard would ham it up and fan the flames of rivalry. Maybe he could make a few discreet gestures to these scholars. Wave real big 360 degrees to the crowd when he’s introduced. Horns up smiling/taunting the crowd. Or perhaps a comment to the media about their town. Give a player or two the go ahead to make some locker room bulletin board material comments towards Tech. Stuff like that. Generates more interest and fan fanaticism.

Took my oldest daughter to a tceh BB camp one year. I was wearing a khaki cap with orange Longhorn. A coed walks up and tells me that Coach Sharp doesn't like my cap. I replied 'I'm sure she doesn't'. The coed then tells me to remove it or I'd be escorted out. I say 'Do you think you'd receive this kind of treatment in Austin?' Pretty sure she mumbled f you as she walked away. Amazing level of moronity on the High Plains.

I was born & raised on the Llano Estacado...spent 38 yrs out there. I remember how people love to TALK about how friendly & hospitable W. Texans are. Give themselves whip-lash patting themselves on the back. West Texas hospitality & friendliness on display in this video. So happy I escaped that s#¡+-hole.
 
Oh, they're hospitable alright. As long as your beliefs align 100% with theirs. But if you believe differently on the choice of politics, how and where to worship, and school affiliation, then get ready for a fight. And don't you dare say the Panhandle needs an HEB. That's United country!

I happen to be in Midland right now. There is a Mosque being built. I'm surprised this is "allowed" in these parts.

This is all I care about.

A big reason I love college sports is the rivalry. Bring the hate. I love it. What else would you want from a conference foe?

If they give you a handshake when you walk into town, they don't respect you. A middle finger means they fear you.

Aside from fun ribbing, I have nothing against Tech. I don't understand why anyone who knows and understands college sports and loyalty doesn't understand 1) your post and 2) why it makes sense that Mark Adams and Beard left on bad terms.

Adams is from Brownfield and went to South Plains.

Barnes was forced out, while Beard went running out of Lubbock. People that are complaining about the way Tech students acted have obviously NEVER ridden the team bus into Fayettenam or Fair Park in October. Then there is Auburn, where they were pretty nice before the game, but were throwing Jack Daniels Black Label at our bench before halftime when we dropped 21 on them in the first half.

Spend some time in Lubbock and with their 'fans'. There are rabid fans and there are ********. You'll find the majority of them are the latter.
