San Diego State is asking for to join the Big XII. Though it's a good TV market, I'm not sure if they would be a good fit. I think that if at any time the PAC-12 decides to offer them membership they'd jump from the Big XII and we'll be back to the same crap again.
I was at Qualcomm last Saturday for the TCU/San Diego St. game and walked away impressed with the crowd they had... I can imagine their recruiting would get better if they got into the Big 12!
If West Virginia is the replacement for Missouri why not just invite WV and BYU now and get us to twelve. Here is when I buy Texas controlling the Big XII against its best interest. DeLoss says he wants 10 but 12 is needed to be relevant in early December.
I believe the football coaches (except little bobby) prefer 10 so they can play everyone and avoid the CCG. little bobby knows the CCG gives him a second shot at the championship when ou loses the annual unexpected game.
It would be great. I could give us more exposure in California and maybe help our recruiting. That is why I would love to play Rice and Houston regularly for the Houston recruiting.
Although SDSU certainly seems like a long shot, it's great that their AD was willing to get off his rocker and make a pitch for his university. I'd much prefer to see the Big 12 add SDSU than UH. San Diego is arguably one of the nicest cities in California. Not sure how SDSU is in terms of total enrollment and academic rankings, but in any case, it's nice [for the Big 12] to be the hunter rather than the hunted.
I think being in the Big XII would give at least a 10K/game boost to SDSU. The average attendance is better than 31K, that is the low that they have. Average is closer to 40K. Being in the Big XII puts them almost at 50K, it they are competitive I could see that number jumping up to 60K.
I am liking it more and more. I think there would need to be another school in that area to give them a regional flavor rivalry, maybe Fresno State and San Diego State?
I hadn't thought much about Cali but I am starting to warm to the idea.
Cal Poly they had 34K.
Washington State they had 57K
TCU they had 44K
That is 45K average through three games this year. Left on the home schedule this year is Wyoming, New Mexico, Boise State and Fresno State. I think the 45K number will be good for this year.
