San Antonio Mexican Restaraunts

Tommy's, on Wurzbach, out by the medical complex. It may not be the best, because there are a lot of great mexican restaurants in SA, but EVERYTHING I have ever had there was outstanding. The prices are also great.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I see that La Margarita is in Market Square. What is that? Is it worth a trip? I'm taking my wife's parents, niece and nephew from Pennsylvania to San Antonio for a day.

Here is the link to Market Square. It's a touristy area that most locals avoid. The other high profile Mexican restaurant is there as well, Mi Tierra. There are literally hundreds of Mexican restaurants in San Antonio so most people consider these 2 to be overpriced but for the most part they are OK and non Texans will probably appreciate the atmosphere.Market Square

I think La Margarita is fantastic for being in such a touristy area.

My favorite is Los Barrios though. Also, Blanco Cafe is strong.

I do believe that is the original.

They could find a human brain in the fridge and I would still eat there because it is for real. Besides, show me a mexican restaurant that hasn't failed a few health inspections and I will show you a mexican restaurant that isn't very good.

Easily one of my favorites in SA.

For something a little different (not Tex-Mex), try some authentic Mexican cooking at La Paloma Blanca on Broadway in Alamo Heights.
