San Antonio breakfast taco

Ok here's the deal.

I will land at the San Antonio airport Saturday morning. I will then rent a car and hit the road. As I drive, I want to fill my stomach with breakfast taco goodness.

Someone give me the best place to stop.

FYI, I am headed to Corpus, so somewhere near (or south of) the airport is preferred.

somebody on here knows this joint i'm going to mention. i couldn't find it on the interweb. it's on hildebrand, not far from trinity univ, i think it's called taco y taco. little place next to a gas station. best breakfast tacos i've had, fantastic. not far off the highway and about 10 min south of the airport.

It's called Taco Taco. It's excellent. Owner is a big UT fan and knows some of the players if I'm not mistaken. His name is Dimitri(sp). His family owns it.

Torn, I went to HS @ MacArthur which is right by the airport. There is a breakfast taco place we used to go after practice all the time. Abundio's off of Broadway in north of 410 in between 410 and Bitters. Right by the airport. In a little strip mall.

They have great tacos, not the best in the city but great and near the airport.

taco taco is good...I live right close to there

but Im a Panchitos man...which is right down the street

and I also remember Abundio's being very good as mentioned above. used to go with my dad all the time but havent been in years

man, the guy who laid my carpet brought me breakfast tacos from a place i think was called Michelle's off Fredericksburg or something. incredible. i have tried googling it and come up with nothing.

Anyone know of good breakfast tacos around 281 & 1604? My gf's parents live there, and when we're in town I always go to that Las Palapas, which are pretty decent. Anything else in that area?

281/1604 is a wasteland in terms of good Tex-Mex, unfortunately. Taco Taco is a definitely a solid pick and not too hard to find. If you're staying downtown try Lula's on Travis just west of St. Mary's, across from IBC bank. A pretty easy walk from quite a few downtown hotels, basically right next to(between) the Gunter and Crown Plaza(formerly Adam' Mark).

believe it or not, but one of the best breakfast tacos I've ever had was in the SA airport. I don't recall the name of the place but it's a mexican food joint right next to some other restaurant.

it was major

isnt rolandos also on hildebrand? biggest tacos in the world. they're even big by burrito standards. it's a little out of the way from the airport, but you'd still be eating it when you got into corpus. they're that big.

I am going to get laughed out of the forum......I am aware. However, and I am from a small town with REAL mexican food and real taquerias, Bill Miller's BBQ makes some of the best breakfast tacos in town.

I argued until I was blue in the face for Taco Taco. I went with a friend of mine one morning just to shut him the **** up and have been hitting the bill miller's at 1604 and 281 on saturday and sunday mornings ever since.

The tortillas are homemade and fresh. Their potato - if you like potato in your taco - is their hash browns (read - relatively spicy and not bland) and their not sauce actually has some (not a lot but more than the average joe hot sauce) bite. Their bacon is real bacon - thick. Not that microwaveable ******** that taco cabana uses.

I am prepared for the reaming I will get. I have eaten damn near every taco shack between my house and st. mary's law school. I have eaten them all between my house and the airport. And most of them near trinity. I would put bill miller against any of them. Some are better for certain things - like carne guisada. There is a hole in the wall off of west avenue that I think is phenomenal, however dollar for dollar for my potato and egg with bacon - I would take Bill Miller's over anything else in town and it really isn't even close.

Flame away.

I'm not going to second you on Bill Miller's being better than anything else, but they do make a good breakfast taco and their potato and egg is probably their best. Their guisada is tasty and their sausage and egg is pretty good as well.

My favorite breakfast taco is a bean and egg and Panchitos, a block or two north of taco taco is my favorite. I also like their chilaquiles, but not to go. They must be eaten immediately. Don't bother with salsa or pico as the cheese welds them together.

There is also a place on Perrin Beitel named somthing like Deluchis that has some pretty decent tacos. It looks like a big chain, but I've never seen another. When I had to get my license renewed, I had their tacos for breakfast and lunch.

Don't tell me to renew my license on line. You have to go in every 8 years.

The best breakfast tacos I ever had were from Alberto's across from the downtown Frost Bank. Their bean & cheese was to die for and probably to die from.

Bill Miller's is well more than just edible and I will stand with my back against the fence with you Dendox.

there really isn't anything great near 281/1604. I always end up at Bill Millers right there...which is always packed. There are some good breakfast tacos there for that area I must say.

Lupitas is good too. I grew up on their food.

there is also one of those mobile taco stands on Perrin Beitel ,probably a mile north of Wurzbach on the left, that is open at nite that has some damn good carne tacos (not breakfast). they are in the parking lot of a auto repair place. they have 4 mini tacos for $5.50. corn tortillas, with carne, celantro, and onions and cheese if you want. not sure what kind of cheese it is, white and crumbly, but the tacos are great with everything.

look for the blinking light.

I really didn't expect such a positive response to my Bill Miller post. Good to see I am not completely crazy.

I just had a couple of potato, egg and bacon tacos and I am feeling real good right now.

Nick sounds like a man who knows whats up. Good to see.

I just remembered another great one. Wurzbach just south of I-10 at Datapoint. dont rember the name but mmm good.

If you're ever in the King Williams area, Torres Taco Haven on S. Presa is great.

You can get the tacos to go, but I usually only go on the weekends when I'm in town and sit down and eat them in the restaurant. Plus, you get to see the biggest most awesomely gaudy Aztec-inspired painting on the wall:

"Several" would have to be a large number. The wife and I tried to go to Panchito's twice this weekend, and the wait was too severe. I'm intrigued by the popularity, but I hate crowds.
