San Angelo Dining?

Directly across the street from Mejor is Hildalgos. Much better food IMO. Chile Rellenos with a fried egg on top.

Original Zenter's is closed. Zentner's Daughter on Knickerbocker is the one everyone raves about, but I wasn't impressed. Best Angelo steak for my money is Western Skies on North Bryant, up by the fairgrounds (where they kept the FLDS kids).

I've also heard that The Wharf, on Knickerbocker and the loop, has good steaks, but I always ate their seafood, which is surprisingly good for West Texas. The owner -- a Texas Ex, I believe -- is a wine-lover, so the restaurant has a good wine list, too.

Hidalgo's is good Mexican. Mejor is all right. I also liked Fuentes Cafe Downtown, on Chadbourne.

Surprisingly, there's not much BBQ in Angelo, but Packsaddle is supposed to be the best. If you're going there from Austin, stop at Cooper's in Llano. Also, check out the Charcoal House -- there are several -- for a damn good burger. The double meat/double cheese is awesome.
