I love this place. Very authentic cajun food. Its a very "hole in the wall" type place, but the food is awesome. Up on 183 and spicewood where the old rooster andrews store used to be. The po boys anc gumbo are awesome. All the boudin sandwich is damn good.

Anyone ever been there???

We picked up some food for the office there the Friday before Xmas and it was great. The lady running the register overheard us saying we were going over to Albertson's and she begged us to pick up some supplies for her so she could cook our order.

my folks have lived in NO for a long time, and sambets has by far the most authentic cajun food in town, other than my house. i regularly drive there for lunch from my office at swparkway and mopac if that tells you anything...kick off early on a friday afternoon, grab a couple tall boys at the exxon, crawfish po boy and two sides: day complete.

i buy my crawfish for my boils there too.

but their red beans and rice are really nothing special, which seems kind of odd, that should be standard.

overall, great place

Red beans and rice are not normally considered Cajun Food......more Creole.

New Orleans food is many times much more Creole than Cajun. These two are often confused for one and the same.

I've talked about that place more times than I can count on this site. Definitely the most authentic coonass food in Austin, though I have to disagree on the gumbo - too heavy on the file. The gumbo I'll be eating at my parents' place tonight on the other hand...

Sambet's is greatness though.

Sambet's is ALLSOME!!! So glad my office is right across 183 from it now!!!
