Sam LeCure is starting this evening for Cincinnati vs the Astros. Sam is taking Homer Bailey's spot in the rotation due to an injury to Bailey.

Looks like a victory in first ML start.

Sam was lifted in the 6th for a pinch hitter. The pinch hitter, Drew Sutton from Baylor, hit a grand slam to run the score up to 14-2.

Nice first outing for Sam. He pitched 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He also had 5 K's with 4 walks.

During last nites game the reds tv guys were talking up Sam a lot. "Must be a good guy, his parents have been married for 47 yrs"...and talked of his pitching.

Missed a lot of tonites game, followed the StrangerS debacle instead.

Congrats to Sammy L. Didn't know that he was that close to the Bigs and hopefully with that kinda run support, he can get more'n a cup o' joe.

Nice to see Sam get the call-up and more importantly his 1st W, but becoming a fixture in the Reds rotation might be kind of tough.

This is the guy the MLB network was pumping in the spring. Whenever he gets the callup I'm watching. Going to be hard for Sam to stay up, esp the way Bailey was pitching. Hopefully Sam can give some good starts & let the cards fall wherever they may.

anyone see the reds game tonite? Stubbs made a nice catch in deep cf for the " defensive play of the game" (per fox ohio). Saved the reds some runs in a 1 run game vs the Cards...this series is pretty entertaining, they were tied going into tonite....I'd take Drew here and give em Borbon in a heartbeat.

not sure if anyone's watching or interested but...reds trail 1-0 top 6th....sam's still in.

Sam had a shaky start. Got 1rst 2 out then Pujols singled, walked holliday...got out of the inning....but looked shaky, pujols stole 2nd and 3rd b/c Sam didn't even check the runner(s).

His family (many of em) are at the game, he's from near Jeff City, MO. He's settled down a bit & throwing hard inside to batters, not backing down....but he is getting behind a lot.

(he did hit pujols w/ a pitch but it was a breaking ball that got away)

Drew is 0-2, a K and a 6-3. The reds need some runs here but carpenter is ON tonite.

Loaded the bases w/ no outs in the 6th, then K'd Carpenter. Baker pulls Sam w/ one out.

The reds teevee guys gave him good words & props, the camera panned to his cheering section. One young lass among them raised her Horns.

All in all a quality start. Been precious few times a Ranger leaves the 6th w/ one run (other than CJ).
