So do we pitch Wood(counting on a win obviously) and go with Chance next to stay alive? I say maybe go with Boening(I thought Boening pitched in OKC last week) and committee tomorrow saving 2 starters for the next two? At least that's what I would do.

It would be absolutely moronic to waste Austin Wood or Chance Ruffin against SHSU. We're going to destroy them with whoever we put on the hill. Therefore, pitch Riley Boening. Then, you have Wood and Ruffin ready to go against Rice.

In a perfect scenario yes it would be moronic. The fact is though that this team scored 1 run today and needs a solid pitching performance tomorrow unless the bats come alive.
If the bats were to come alive I guess it would be plausable to pull Ruffin and get some innings from Boening or some relievers.

Rice didn't exactly light up SHSU, and we didn't exacrly light up St. John's, so I don't get that it is moronic to "waste Wood or Ruffin tomorrow.

I actually was guessing Riley would get the start, but I don't see that as such a slam dunk decision.

You've got to atleast start with your best guy to keep you in it in case the bats don't come alive immediately.

It's not as simple as saying we don't need Ruffin to beat SHSU. Chance has been preparing all week to pitch tomorrow, and you can't throw him off his routine because the bats have suddenly become unreliable. How would you feel if Texas, by some act of God, lost to SHSU with Ruffin sitting on the bench, waiting for Rice? That would be a nightmare of epic proportions.

Texas is down to its 9th life. If your best is available, you go with your best and hope he puts the fear of God into his teammates. Period.

Ruffin is a good decision. There's a reason Rice threw Berry tonight-- Sam can really hit the ball.
