SAM and DICKER the only members of this team that sing THE EYES???

Since they are doing neither, they truly are terrible.

May the failure of the 2020 UT football team and staff serve as a cautionary tale for future teams. Be cautious in trashing the customs and traditions of those, better, people that have come before you.

Despite their childlike hatred of older beliefs, those traditions were honored and cherished for good and valid reasons. They helped in winning, and showed that even in losing, bonds of friendship and respect could still be kept.

Without those, the players are only as important as the results on the field. Which for this year are disgraceful.

Most football games are won or lost on the OL.

Ours did a good job on passing plays and were MIA in the run game.

That will lose most games.

I don't know what the problem is there but I sort of doubt it has much to do with singing The Eyes

On another note, for those of you who believe in karma, might the current revolt/tantrums about racism be a payback for the incessant racist behavior of our previous Boards of Regents and a few fraternities? I saw a fair amount of egregious bigotry displayed by the latter when I was in school in the late 60s and early 70s. And we were the last all white national champions. Even back when we were winning NCs it seemed a lot of the best black players were skittish about the place

I am not superstitious so I tend to favor the OL explanation

LOL. Nice attempt to justify the ******** we're seeing. Not buying it. The fact is the players over-reached with the Eyes.

Of course 18, 19, and 20 year-olds can be excused for being dumbasses. We've all been there. But the people in Bellmont don't have the luxury of blaming their stupidity on age. Nor do the coaches or AD.

It's time for the adults in the State (alums, boosters, fans) to apply maximum pressure. Let the AD know what you think. And don't stop letting him know what you think.

Over the years, I've had a call, here and there, from players, who knew there was no way they would even get a glancing look from the NFL, and were seeking a recommendation or to include me on a job app. I've always been more than happy to help them. But, this team, unless their name is Sam Ellinger, it's not gonna happen. For the most part, this team has a chip on their shoulder about societal and political issues which they nor the fans, have no control over as far as actual change. Most of it stemming from our song, from what I've gleaned here and there. They came here for the primary reasons of; receiving a top ranked education, play football, and represent the University. They aren't doing well at all with the latter two from what I've see this so far this season.
THIS is the first thought I had when all this happened this Summer. Having a tangential relationship with Texas Football and all the players, cheerleaders and band people for 50 years....WE are a FAMILY made up of people that were huge parts of what our legacy is. I will never forget my good fortune of running into James Street in the Athletic Department (I was in charge of the tutoring of the athletes in the mid-80's and was meeting with Joe Evans, Academic Advisor) and even James Street was so humble about his place in all of this greatness that he helped create. I sat and spoke to James about his "Merry-go-round" (I think that was the name of it) publication about all things concerning Longhorn Football from an insiders perspective. For years after that James would come up to me in the Alumni Center before a game and say hello....JAMES STREET!!! (the reason I am a LONGHORN)...
My point, it's all a HUGE Family that stay in touch. Having been Varsity cheerleader '74-'76 I am in touch with cheerleaders and players back to the '50's....such a HUGE blessing this is in my life....and all these guys have thrown that out the window....VERY, VERY sad for them....but, when you are 18 or 19...what do you know??? about what I did at 18 or 19...almost NOTHING!!!

I thought the whole point of the players this year is We Are One. But I guess that only applies to political causes embraced by the school.

Most likely, the other players are mad at Sam for not skipping out as well.

it would serve the players and the school right if Sam transferred to another school and had great success there.
Well he will have an opportunity to follow Shane at SMU if Shane decides to forgo this"free" year.

I had to think about that, but then remembered the players this year get an extra year and this one doesn't count against their four year limit, unless the NCAA changed it again.

I don't see Sam going to SMU. IIRC, Sam wanted to study business and earn both a BBA and MBA form UT.

I am praying that SAM returns for one more year....

That's good to know. He deserves to come back for one more.

That picture sums up the Tom Herman era. Has only one player, that he inherited from legacy Texas Football, that respects the university, it’s traditions, and fans. Proud of Sam:hookem:
Sam goes down as one of the greatest in spite of not winning BIG. It takes a real man to stand alone. If half of this team had half of his character (and wisdom) we'd be the class of the conference if not greater.

I would like to offer that almost all the poster on this board have benefited from "white privilege" all their lives.
I will never buy the popular false narrative that I am a privileged person because I was born white, or that because someone was not born white, they are severely disadvantaged and discriminated against. There are plenty of blacks in this country, like Herschel Walker and many many others, that would not buy it either.

(Sorry Dion. The assertion had to be contested.)

Giovanni that picture was after the win (and I realize before the s***started). I went to the game thinking we were going to win and wondering with a victory in this, our biggest stage If we would have many stay and demonstrate any pride. Obviously we did not win and Sam stood alone. Sad, so very sad.

In an Alt-History version of college football, Sam transfers to OU and becomes an avenging angel, raining destruction down upon Texas while waving the Horns down, enroute to a national championship.
The place he belongs is Texas A&M.
I have as deep of UT credentials as anyone—my father went to 61 consecutive OU games, my mother has 4 UT degrees, I have 2. I have sat in the same seats since 1970.

I’ll just say it: I would rather be an Aggie than support this team of immature selfish snowflake social justice pretenders. Aggies represent the love I have for this state and its culture better than where I went to college so many years ago.

I am drinking a margarita right now, so I’ll hang up and listen.

The players that were instrumental in the disrespect, destruction of Texas tradition and history and who will not stand as a team to sing 'Eyes' need to have their scholarships revoked but that is likely a legal issue. Many traditions they either have destroyed or are in the process of being destroyed. I still have a hard time believing that some have taken the wrong stance on these issues.

'We Are One'!!!
Rip it off everyone's uniform!!! They do not represent Horn's or Texas and probably not the USA! Give em a choice and maybe they make a better one! Revoke the gift of $$$$$ and move on. Rebuild with coaches and players that want to be Horn's!! Someone has really misguided them and that person needs to be held accountable.

Not that surprising. They said they wouldn’t and lost a game that they shouldn’t have. They were destroyed knowing that the season is over now. I’d have been in the locker room too. I think the reason Sam stayed was to distract from his horrible play.

Sam accounted for almost all our yards

By comparison, Earl Campbell’s senior year (Heisman) vs OU—23 carries for 124 yds. With a long of 25 yds. And 1 TD Probably takes a little off your right shoulder by the end.

Just for the sake of the historical record, I saw that in person
