Gonna be a big pile of mailwriting CDC helps....he responds to people....I am writing him in the morning...
That picture sums up the Tom Herman era. Has only one player, that he inherited from legacy Texas Football, that respects the university, it’s traditions, and fans. Proud of SamSomeone on another sight brought this to my attention....is this true???![]()
65, so your assertion is that the insurrection we saw this summer is completely detached from the abomination we are seeing on the field now? If so it would follow that Sam’s “splintered” comment is baseless, and that his observation is insignificant.I would like to point out that there were some players that played their butts off that did not stay and sing "The Eyes". Foster was played hard and he played well. He was making tackles and had to come out several times when hurt. Ossai and Jamison also played hard and played well as did Overshown. We lost 3 or 4 of out top safeties due to injury andout top safty , Sterns, was scratched.
The main problem I see is not that players are not staying and singing the eyes is that make the same damn mistakes game after game and looked to un-coached. Our OL sucks . There was one running play we keep running had an average of -2 YPC and we keep running it. The only running play that we had any success was a straight quick hitter. Equally, what the hell is wrong with special teams? I thought we hired a coach to fix that problem. It has not been fixed.
The tradition of Texas football, in my opinion, is not we stay and sing "The Eyes" win or lose, it is a winning tradition. If we can get that back, I really do not care if they stay on the field and sing "The Eyes".
Flame away
I was DONE with Herman after this moment....I've seen so many posts over the years about how coach X has ruined the program and will take decades to overcome if ever. Every time I've laughed it off knowing that the right coach can have us in a championship game within 4-5 years.
What Herman has done here in 3.4 years is way beyond losing games. He is decimating the entire culture that has been Texas football for over a century. When an organization no longer has history and tradition to lean on because of hatred built against it, that means someone has to rebuild the entire foundation over again. If he stays much longer our football foundation will be irreparable and I sincerely wonder if Texas football will be relevant again in my lifetime.
I hope he's gone really soon.
I was DONE with Herman after this moment....
it solidified in my mind that this man has ZERO common sense....can imagine DKR doing such???Sadly, I gave the benefit of the doubt then. Awkward and embarrassing to watch. An overgrown child, and that is why the team is that way.
OL aside....your KARMA suggestion and our "LAST all-white National Championship Team caught my attention....since that was the POINT you really were intending to SHAME us with....and convince us that WE GOT THIS COMING....well, you are full of S***!!! I have watched this game over several times...(1969 TEXAS/o.u.) I will post it here so you can comment after you watch it.....guess how many black players made the field for Oklahoma on that day, when we (RACISTS, BIGOTS, and all-around horrible people that are setting ourselves up for KARMA to be brought to our attention by the likes of HUISACHE some 50 years later)....Most football games are won or lost on the OL.
Ours did a good job on passing plays and were MIA in the run game.
That will lose most games.
I don't know what the problem is there but I sort of doubt it has much to do with singing The Eyes
On another note, for those of you who believe in karma, might the current revolt/tantrums about racism be a payback for the incessant racist behavior of our previous Boards of Regents and a few fraternities? I saw a fair amount of egregious bigotry displayed by the latter when I was in school in the late 60s and early 70s. And we were the last all white national champions. Even back when we were winning NCs it seemed a lot of the best black players were skittish about the place
I am not superstitious so I tend to favor the OL explanation
sorry...not familiar with Hartzell....fill me in, please...One thing that needs to always be remembered is the role Hartzell played in all of this as well. That POS helped make all of this possible by immediately bowing to the demands. And guess what, Hartzell doesn't have a $20M buyout. We could be rid of his butt next year.
Current Pres of UT. was interim over the summer of discontent. He's the one that immediately caved on the list of demands from these kids. That sort of reaction fed the "we've got power" attitude of these ATHLETE-students. That sort of reaction also fed the anti-EYES narrative. And they still aren't standing behind the traditions of UT and The Eyes. Now they are putting together a commission to study the history of the song "in context".sorry...not familiar with Hartzell....fill me in, please...
ok, I know the name, now...I was trying to place him in the coaching staff and that was not happening....Current Pres of UT. was interim over the summer of discontent. Are you blind or just ignorant?Ours did a good job on passing plays
More "white guilt" drivel. Losing by nature causes fans to question the talent of players and the leadership of coaches. Usually, fans will temper their criticism because we recognize said players and coaches are part of our university family. The combination of the woke players utter disdain for the traditions, history and alumni of the very university they "represent", the current university administration's outright social justice pandering, sh*tty play, sh*tty coaching and losing games has resulted in the perfect storm of fan disgust. F these players, F this coach and F this administration. On another note, for those of you who believe in karma, might the current revolt/tantrums about racism be a payback for the incessant racist behavior of our previous Boards of Regents and a few fraternities? I do not believe I addressed the "insurrection" this summer. I was giving my opinion of the game, the problems with the team and individual performance in THIS game. You can choose to focus on what you consider important.65, so your assertion is that the insurrection we saw this summer is completely detached from the abomination we are seeing on the field now? If so it would follow that Sam’s “splintered” comment is baseless, and that his observation is insignificant.
While I mostly agree with you, you are about to see an economic market correction like no other in the near future. Even the NBA recognizes this and is laying groundwork for next season to try and get people back.Okay, so if that is what his legacy will be, then this program is even more pathetic and doomed than originally thought.
No coach will come in and reverse any of this. I looked up NC last night and was watching some of Mack Brown's comments. They haven't changed since he was at Texas. Anyway, I see that NC players have BLM shirts they are allowed to wear. Not sure how Mack feels about it, but there appears to be no coach in the country willing to stand up and say "Hell no, you can't wear that **** and be on this team." I am certain any other political attire that is right leaning, and I'm sorry, I know this thread needs to end up in West Mall, would not be tolerated by any program.
There is no going back. Sports is forever tainted now.
Goodbye, sports...
Hey, I hope you are correct and this a horrible blip in the history of college sports. While I mostly agree with you, you are about to see an economic market correction like no other in the near future. Even the NBA recognizes this and is laying groundwork for next season to try and get people back.
Substantial economic pain to the universities and substantial reductions in pro salaries will get their attention. Maybe that will correct the issues. But that is a big maybe.
