SAM and DICKER the only members of this team that sing THE EYES???

Better pic and you can see Sam and Herman. Also above Sam you can see the players I saw that were there but obviously from the pic not with Horns up.
Sam in his interview is correct. Divided we fail.

Great comments on this thread.

I am baffled as to how CDC can let this stand. Perhaps his hands are tied and if so, he should resign and explain why. He has enough money.

We are witnessing the disintegration of our once proud and great program. That picture of Sam will become iconic, representative of a time when — if not corrected and soon — the program and the franchise eroded into obscurity.

“What Starts Here Changes The World.” We are getting ready to see if those words mean anything.

I thought the whole point of the players this year is We Are One. But I guess that only applies to political causes embraced by the school.

Most likely, the other players are mad at Sam for not skipping out as well.

it would serve the players and the school right if Sam transferred to another school and had great success there.

It is amazing how fast a cultural revolution can completely change things. When China went through its communist Cultural Revolution in the 60’s, great historical traditions were denounced and cursed. Books were burned and those that wrote or even read them were branded as non-believers. Professors were put on show trials and forced to repudiate their life’s work. Lots of matching outfits with the same message written on them too.

Two years ago the eyes of Texas was a cherished part of the football game day experience. Now its a hated and denounced aspect of the time before the glorious revolution.

At what point do a large percentage of fans of the school openly and actively cheer for the other team to win. Not because it will force a coaching change. Not because it’s a necessary period of bad times to improve for the future. Just because that percentage of the fans really does not like players and wants to see them get beat and walk off the field as losers?

I would like to point out that there were some players that played their butts off that did not stay and sing "The Eyes". Foster was played hard and he played well. He was making tackles and had to come out several times when hurt. Ossai and Jamison also played hard and played well as did Overshown. We lost 3 or 4 of out top safeties due to injury andout top safty , Sterns, was scratched.

The main problem I see is not that players are not staying and singing the eyes is that make the same damn mistakes game after game and looked to un-coached. Our OL sucks . There was one running play we keep running had an average of -2 YPC and we keep running it. The only running play that we had any success was a straight quick hitter. Equally, what the hell is wrong with special teams? I thought we hired a coach to fix that problem. It has not been fixed.

The tradition of Texas football, in my opinion, is not we stay and sing "The Eyes" win or lose, it is a winning tradition. If we can get that back, I really do not care if they stay on the field and sing "The Eyes".

Flame away

65, so your assertion is that the insurrection we saw this summer is completely detached from the abomination we are seeing on the field now? If so it would follow that Sam’s “splintered” comment is baseless, and that his observation is insignificant.

I've seen so many posts over the years about how coach X has ruined the program and will take decades to overcome if ever. Every time I've laughed it off knowing that the right coach can have us in a championship game within 4-5 years.

What Herman has done here in 3.4 years is way beyond losing games. He is decimating the entire culture that has been Texas football for over a century. When an organization no longer has history and tradition to lean on because of hatred built against it, that means someone has to rebuild the entire foundation over again. If he stays much longer our football foundation will be irreparable and I sincerely wonder if Texas football will be relevant again in my lifetime.

I hope he's gone really soon.
I was DONE with Herman after this moment....

Most football games are won or lost on the OL.

Ours did a good job on passing plays and were MIA in the run game.

That will lose most games.

I don't know what the problem is there but I sort of doubt it has much to do with singing The Eyes

On another note, for those of you who believe in karma, might the current revolt/tantrums about racism be a payback for the incessant racist behavior of our previous Boards of Regents and a few fraternities? I saw a fair amount of egregious bigotry displayed by the latter when I was in school in the late 60s and early 70s. And we were the last all white national champions. Even back when we were winning NCs it seemed a lot of the best black players were skittish about the place

I am not superstitious so I tend to favor the OL explanation

The term “karma” is used by people who think they are too smart for religion. So instead they fall back on superstition to explain the world. Don’t walk behind them if they’ve spilled the salt.

There is no evidence that’s there is anything racialist about the eyes of Texas. It’s an internet rumor like the guy who woke up after drinking hard, in a bathtub of ice with a missing kidney. But quickly believed by the players as it fed into the idea told to them that everything in this country is racist.

I’ve watched of Texas losses. What’s new is how I actually like to see them lose. Usually intense dislike by loyal customers of your product and people offering it, is considered bad by the managers of that business.

But it’s a brand new business and entertainment model we are in, where business run off customers they don’t like based on their views.

it’s managed to work for movies and the nba due to foreign viewers picking up from where Americans have tuned them out. No chance of anyone in Shanghai making up for lost fans in La Grange for UT football.

Sadly, I gave the benefit of the doubt then. Awkward and embarrassing to watch. An overgrown child, and that is why the team is that way.
it solidified in my mind that this man has ZERO common sense....can imagine DKR doing such???

someone once said...."When a person FIRST shows you who they are....BELIEVE THEM!!!"

Yeah, like back in that era Black folks were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed to aTm, Tech, TCU, LSU, Bama, Rice (the worst of them all—do your research), etc. In this neck of the country, probably only UH and OU can honestly rub that history in on us.

One thing that needs to always be remembered is the role Hartzell played in all of this as well. That POS helped make all of this possible by immediately bowing to the demands. And guess what, Hartzell doesn't have a $20M buyout. We could be rid of his butt next year.

OL aside....your KARMA suggestion and our "LAST all-white National Championship Team caught my attention....since that was the POINT you really were intending to SHAME us with....and convince us that WE GOT THIS COMING....well, you are full of S***!!! I have watched this game over several times...(1969 TEXAS/o.u.) I will post it here so you can comment after you watch it.....guess how many black players made the field for Oklahoma on that day, when we (RACISTS, BIGOTS, and all-around horrible people that are setting ourselves up for KARMA to be brought to our attention by the likes of HUISACHE some 50 years later)....

the answer: ONE

sorry...not familiar with Hartzell....fill me in, please...

Current Pres of UT. was interim over the summer of discontent. He's the one that immediately caved on the list of demands from these kids. That sort of reaction fed the "we've got power" attitude of these ATHLETE-students. That sort of reaction also fed the anti-EYES narrative. And they still aren't standing behind the traditions of UT and The Eyes. Now they are putting together a commission to study the history of the song "in context".

ok, I know the name, now...I was trying to place him in the coaching staff and that was not happening....
WELL, for those that are not "HOOD-WINKED & DIMMMM-WITTED"...ALL of this was NOTHING but a POWER GRAB...plain and simple...

George Floyd: (initial victim) said "I can't breathe several times prior to be placed on the street (at his suggestion).....WHY??? he had swallowed fentanyl prior to being pulled from his SUV and handcuffed by the police. (BOTH independent autopsies confirmed he had FOUR TIMES the LETHAL amount of fentanyl in his body) therefore, he died of a drug overdose of his own doing....

I will never forget telling the George Floyd incident to my 82 year old friend and her FIRST response was....just, WAIT, they never know everything until they look at ALL that was going on. Well, she was right....

Okay, so if that is what his legacy will be, then this program is even more pathetic and doomed than originally thought.

No coach will come in and reverse any of this. I looked up NC last night and was watching some of Mack Brown's comments. They haven't changed since he was at Texas. Anyway, I see that NC players have BLM shirts they are allowed to wear. Not sure how Mack feels about it, but there appears to be no coach in the country willing to stand up and say "Hell no, you can't wear that **** and be on this team." I am certain any other political attire that is right leaning, and I'm sorry, I know this thread needs to end up in West Mall, would not be tolerated by any program.

There is no going back. Sports is forever tainted now.

Goodbye, sports...

Are you blind or just ignorant?

More "white guilt" drivel. Losing by nature causes fans to question the talent of players and the leadership of coaches. Usually, fans will temper their criticism because we recognize said players and coaches are part of our university family. The combination of the woke players utter disdain for the traditions, history and alumni of the very university they "represent", the current university administration's outright social justice pandering, sh*tty play, sh*tty coaching and losing games has resulted in the perfect storm of fan disgust. F these players, F this coach and F this administration.

In an Alt-History version of college football, Sam transfers to OU and becomes an avenging angel, raining destruction down upon Texas while waving the Horns down, enroute to a national championship.

I do not believe I addressed the "insurrection" this summer. I was giving my opinion of the game, the problems with the team and individual performance in THIS game. You can choose to focus on what you consider important.

I would like to offer that almost all the poster on this board have benefited from "white privilege" all their lives. I cannot put myself and my values into someone else head and their life experiences.

I was expressing MY opinion that the most important tradition to me is winning football, not singing "The Eyes". If that gets me banned, so be it.
Foster, among others, took a lot of heat on this board and no one Saturday played harder and took more punishment than Foster.

Give him credit, not reading into my post something I did not say.

While I mostly agree with you, you are about to see an economic market correction like no other in the near future. Even the NBA recognizes this and is laying groundwork for next season to try and get people back.

Substantial economic pain to the universities and substantial reductions in pro salaries will get their attention. Maybe that will correct the issues. But that is a big maybe.

Over the years, I've had a call, here and there, from former players, mostly walk-ons, who knew there was no way they would even get a glancing look from the NFL, and were seeking a recommendation or to include me on a job app. I've always been more than happy to help them. But, this team, unless their name is Sam Ellinger, it's not gonna happen. For the most part, this team has a chip on their shoulder about societal and political issues which they nor the fans, have any level of control over as far as actual change. Most of it stemming from our song, from what I've gleaned here and there. They came here for the primary reasons of; receiving a top ranked education, play football, and represent the University. They aren't doing well at all with the latter two from what I've seen so far this season.

Hey, I hope you are correct and this a horrible blip in the history of college sports.
