I've got a 5 hour lay-over in Salt Lake City. Is that enough time to do anything? Are there any attractions close to the airport?

Planning on a cab ride I assume.

If so, there's not enough time to do anything except perhaps walk around the Mormon Temple Square. Nothing is particularly close to the airport, but it's only 10 minutes or so to downtown. Mountains and ski areas like Snowbird are another 30+ minutes away. IIf you do go to the Temple Square and time allows, catch one of the free organ recitals in the Tabernacle (daily at noon and 2:00 pm, lasting approx. 30 minutes each).

Another nearby attraction is the Catholic Cathedral. It is about 5 blocks East of the Temple Square and features some incredible interior architecture, stained glass, and a pretty fantastic pipe organ of its own.
