Salad dressings

I've been eating pretty much vegetarian these days, which means a lot of salads. I've got a few staple dressings I make, but would love to hear more recipes. Here are a few I really like:Creamy maple dressing (probably the best salad dressing ever)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons Champagne vinegar (or other white wine vinegar)
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil

I like this one with bitter greens, toasted almonds, and sliced apples.

Orange mustard vinaigrette

(This is one that I made w/ out a recipe, so all portions are loose approximations)
Juice of one orange
2 TBS mustard
2 TBS honey
2 TBS apple cider vinegar

Whisk together, add salt, pepper, and olive oil to taste.

Walnut Dressing

2 – green onions (chopped fine or grated)
1 – teaspoon parsley (minced)
2 – cloves garlic (minced or grated)
2.5 – tsp. salt
.5 – tsp. white pepper
1 – tablespoon dried tarragon leaves
3 – tablespoons tarragon vinegar
3.5 – cups mayo
.75 – cup buttermilk

Top with crushed Walnuts

Combine all ingredients and mix well.
Makes 1 quart.

The Best Ranch Evah

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of Hidden Valley Ranch buttermilk dressing mix (the kind that comes in a packet)
1 cup of mayo (Hellman’s works best. NO miracle whip!!)
½ cup buttermilk (the fat free kind works just as well as regular)
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
dash of salt

Preparation:
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Tastes best if you leave it in the icebox overnight. Makes about 1.5 cups. Double the recipe if you want more…

I bring this to parties and serve with jalapeno poppers and/or a veggie tray. I'm not allowed to attend covered dish functions unless I bring the ranch.

i make a nice cesar.

2 anchovy fillets
3 garlic cloves
1/2 squeezed lemon
about 2 cups olive oil
about 3/4 cup red wine vinegar
about 2 tablespoons mayo
about 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
dash or 2 worsteshire
pepper

I enjoy a simple balsamic vinaigrette

balsamic vinegar
lemon juice
minced shallot
minced garlic
little bit dijon mustard
salt
pepper

mix all these well then whisk in good extra virgin olive oil. Usually 2:1 oil to vinegar.

Admiral, no eggs in your caesar?

One of the BEST already made salad dressings I've ever had was from Mother's off of Duval. They carry a Cashew Tamari which is like buttah! I definitely recommend it!

I normally get the salad spritzers that just came out. They come in Balsamic vinagerette, Italian vinagerette, and a Red Wine vinagerette. Tasty and you don't have to worry about a glop of dressing on your salad... if you're trying to watch your weight, etc...
